Unless it is a John Deere 1963 or 1964 model it will be a lost cause. Those are worth a couple thousand but after that the value drops quit a bit. I had a 1967 model with snowblower, mower, blade weights and it all ran that I paid $500 for. 20 years later I repainted the tractor and all the attachments and was able t sell everything for maybe $600. And it was all in good shape. But, your experience may be different that mine.

If you cut the frame right behind the front wheel mounts and lengthen the frame out 3 feet a small block Chevy v8 will fit nice.

Yep, but there are a few problems with that. If I were to do something like mounting a SB. Number 1 the weight would increase to the point that it would function better as a soil compactor that a garden tractor but that might mean I could install some super wide tires on the front and use it as a roller to flatten out bumps and high spots in the yard

I learned a long time ago that the value of a thing can be way more or way less than mere buying and selling My 51 model 8n probably wouldn't fetch 50 buck more than the 500 I paid for it several years ago even after doing quite a bit of work to it. But that was not why I bought it. It came with a 5 foot brush hog. I bought new front tires then had them foam filled after having to repair half a dozen flats from mesquite thorn punctures. I use the tractor mostly for mowing only so for that it is worth way more to me than dollars
My 89 Ford 755B backhoe was so abused by the previous owner digging swimming pools for 25 years that it was hardly worth hauling off which was exactly what it cost me but I use it sometimes every day mostly with the front bucket removed and the fork carriage I made for it installed or the gin pole set up I made and installed on the fork carriage.
This will be what will happen to the little JD 110 it is large enough but at the same time small enough to become a garden tractor I will probably put a 14 to 20 Hp engine on it add a shaft or belt driven PTO out the rear salvage parts off of an old large Honda tiller I have widen it out from 24 inches to 36 or 40 inches Get a single row planter and use the little JD exclusively for tilling or planting the garden Just like my wife uses her 15.5 hp Craftsmen 48" exclusively for mowing the yard. My Schram 300 pneumatic tractor has only one purpose the 300 CFM air compressor once I get a sand blasting rig it will be used to power that, My Gravley 10A commercial is worthless as a walk behind tractor but the 60" mower deck works well in the woods where I can't get the 8N, I have antique trucks and antique tractors I don't go to shows and could care less their dollar value I just like old iron and some of it I might even make look good

Been seeing a barn kept unrestored unit with a trailer for asking price of $3500 on the local CL.

I'd say asking price and getting price differ by a factor of 10.

Deere Dude is correct those round fender tractors fetch quite a bit better price. One of my Uncles bought one back when I was a kid I don't know what year they changed from round to flat but after a couple of summers my cousin had that thing so wore out from driving it to town every day pulling a trailer with a push mower to mow lawns of the townies that my Uncle had to buy a new one to replace it the new one had the flat fenders like the one I have now couple more HP and way more robust they still had it 10 or 15 years later but my cousin had only used the flat fender tractor for a single summer
