I don't know if it has reached The Villages in Florida yet but that could be bad. Anywhere that large numbers of retired folk are concentrated would allow the virus to thrive.

Even if the fatality rate is only 1% (which is certainly a low estimate) that's still 10x the flu. And covid-19 fatality rates are much worse in old people. But a big problem is the number of ill people with respiratory failure. Many of those survive if they have access to a ventilator. But no country has enough ventilators for the number of cases they're getting or going to get. In the hard hit parts of Italy they're having to triage access to ventilators. Old people or people with pre-existing conditions that make them succeptible to respiratory problems don't get ventilators and they die.

"Anywhere that large numbers of retired folk are concentrated would allow the virus to thrive" the virus will thrive among people of all ages. But old people are more affected by it and die at higher rates.

I can't visit my Brother in the VA home where he lives because it's quarantined. My BIL also lives there but is currently in the local hospital for an issue. I can visit him...….

This is why quarantine never works.

Why is the death rate so much higher in Italy than in South Korea? Both industrialized nations with you would think good health care.

Italy: Confirmed 10,149 with 631 dead and 724 recovered.
Korea: Confirmed 7,755 with 54 dead and 247 recovered.

The Med cram vid i linked says the possible link was the use of the anti Malaria/zinc treatment that was tried experimentally in South Korea there is a more than order of magnitude difference in survivibility in the critical cases when this treatment was used.
Shutting down the RNA replication of the Virus in the cell seems to be key.
