Why is the death rate so much higher in Italy than in South Korea? Both industrialized nations with you would think good health care.
Italy: Confirmed 10,149 with 631 dead and 724 recovered.
Korea: Confirmed 7,755 with 54 dead and 247 recovered.
This seems odd to me. Perhaps Italy has so many more old immune compromised people?
Purdue university announced today that after spring break, which starts next week, they will hold no in-person classes starting Monday, March 23 for as long as advisable and possibly through the end of the semester in May.

Indiana University announced today something similar at all it's campuses state-wide. They will suspend in-classroom teaching for at least 2 weeks after spring break ends.

I understand Italy has the oldest population Europe.
South Korea has also done a lot of testing. They even have drive through test centers. Unfortunately our government response seems to be closer to Italy's than South Korea's.

this points out why its important to "flatten the curve"- slowing down transmission means that we won't overwhelm the medical system as much.
Some of our local hospitals have already set up big tents in their parking lots.
