Lots in the same boat...everybody is not a prepper and even those that prudently keep provisions for a 2 week term for natural disasters etc...will still be having to go to the store...from what is apparent via actual facts...this virus is not going to cause a worst case scenario as far as supply chains go for most essential items...

Not saying things could not change but IMO the store shelves will be back to normal within weeks if not days for many items...

Agree 100% with this. But not knowing how this virus may impact your community, stocking up a little ahead of time will reduce, possible, unnecessary trips to relatively and increasingly high risks locations. More of an issue for those immuno- compromised.

Right...I said in an earlier post that people will want to be spending as little time as possible in public stores etc...they will be mostly after perishables and the less time they have to spend on getting TP etc.. makes some sense...

It won't surprise me if a lot of grocery stores shut down their meat cutting operations so only prepackaged cuts is what they offer...Also their Deli's and bakeries etc...!

Yes. When I was in the grocery store today, the ONLY areas of shortage were TP and sanitizers. Produce was overflowing, all other shelves seemed normal. Meat department seemed normal, but I buy prepackaged sale items so maybe fresh cuts could be off.

I don't understand the big deal about getting tested. It sounds like people want to be tested with no symptoms. They could get a test and get infected the next day. Are they going to get tested every day.

One thing I cautioned my wife about was the fresh produce sitting out where people could handle it. You haven't a clue where their hands have been ow what is on them. Told her not to buy any produce that wan't pre wrapped in plastic. Grocery shippers have a bad habit of handling stuff and putting in back. Not so bad with pre wrapped stuff, very bad with unwrapped stuff.

I imagine cooking anything will kill any germs but items like apples, lettuce, banana's and stuff like that don't get heated and are eaten cold. I want all my cold stuff to be pre wrapped so it cannot be handled by hands that I don't know where they have been...

Yep... courts closed, schools closed, churches closed, city halls, public and private events, etc.

Picked up a few supplies for the Hospital at 6 am at Lucky and no problem... Stopped at Safeway for Mom on the way home and never seen anything like it... empty shelves, lines from register to the back of store and parking simply not available... several around me said it was surreele or like a movie set...

Forgot to mention the local Costco was shutdown 4 times today with police dispatched and spilling over to the freeway...

Heck I went shopping today, to pick up a couple Rx's anyway I did a little shopping while there. This is a small town one store Safeway . . .2 days ago there was TP, canned goods a lot . . . today the shelves were EMPTY! So I went to the pharmacy and picked up my Rx's and told the lady what the heck happened from 2 days ago? She said they came in this morning and emptied the shelves but (I know her) she had a stash in the back of TP! I got a couple ;)

Yeah, I don't drink, never have it in the house and don't care for the stuff but my cat loves tequila. Every time I'm at the liqour store I pick her up a bottle or two. lol

Pets have some strange acquired tastes. We have one cat that likes popcorn. If I make a microwave bag, she will follow me around the house meowing and begging for her popcorn... Buttered only and yes, the dog(s) we have 2 large ones, a chow and a coon hound and the cats (5) all live happily with each other. In fact, the big black chow can be stretched out on the rug with a couple cats snuggled up against his tummy in the winter time, all fast asleep. 120 pound dog with a couple tiny cats sleeping together.

Only time there is any friction is at dinner time. They have their bowls and no one had better be sniffing in someone else's bowl, especially the big black dog. He's show his 'Grille' in a minute....

Guess animals are immune from the Wuhan Flu, like infants and young children or so I've read. But I did read infants and children can be carriers just the same, but then it's hard to separate fact from fiction today. Too many conflicting stores out there. Too many 'experts' and nit enough actual knowledge.

Wife witnessed some firefighters stocking up and they were talking with a very old lady in a motorized shopping cart accompanied by a younger lady.

They were advising her that she should get home and let someone help her so she didn't need to go out right now.

Always encouraging to hear. Care for you fellow man (or woman) is a good thing today. We need more of it, way more.
