2017 l3901 Kubota
I am looking to trade my Kubota L3901 in for a bigger better built 60 to 66 HP tractor. My Kubota has been in the shop longer than I have owned it, on year two of ownership. I am leaning toward Kioti RX 6620 but there aren't as many comparisons out there for major brands such as Mahindra, JD, Kioti, and Kubota. What is the best tractor for the money and one that will spend a limited amount of time in the shop? My uses are front mount mowers, grapple, brush hogging, digging/moving dirt, and small scale land clearing and small farm uses.

My personal choice by brand name alone would be JD and Kubota as a tie. This is based on a strong dealer system in my area and a good reputation. I have never sat on a Kioti but have looked at them. They look good and seem to have a good reputation on this board.

Just purchased a Kioti 7320 a few months ago. The dealer is only about 15 minutes up the road, but so Is the Kubota dealer. The dealer that sold the kioti also sells mahindra. JD dealer is about 45 minutes away. I have always liked green, but so do they apparently. Went there first and looked at a 5065E. Nice tractor but The price was less than nice. Then looked at Kubota, new holland, mahindra, Massey, LS, and Kioti. I needed something with well over 2,000 pounds of lift for the FEL. But I did not necessarily need a 85+ horse tractor. So in the 70 horse range this left me with LS, Mahindra, and kioti. LS was the cheapest but also over an hour away. For the money the Kioti was the best deal. It痴 comfortable and I have got room. I am a big guy, 6? 300+. Some of the tractors I looked at were cramped as far as leg room. This is a cab tractor, btw. Examine your Budget, and your closest dealers. For me, it came down to lift capacity and money. I got what I wanted, and could not be happier. Oh and, I could have probably gone bigger..... but the 7320 has been up for every task I have thrown at it.

Asking for comparisons on the internet for 4 machines should be interesting. With that said I would suggest going and looking at all 4, getting quotes and narrowing it down some, you then might get some good advice.

Thank you very much! I’ve drove both the 7320 and the Mahindra and liked the Powershuttle open cab for myself! That helps a lot with lift capacity, I sometimes pick up trees and move them where lifting capacity is very important! Some one has said that the lifting capacity of the Kioti is too much for the tractor itself... how do you feel about this?

Front mount mowers on a 3901?

Anyway, if you are doing more dirt moving, grapple, and land clearing have you considered a skid steer or it's cousin a compact track loader?

How much to you have to mow / brush hog?

They have a lane shark for that size tractor but have never used on it, on my future purchase I would like to get one, I’ve seen the modern ag version and helped a dealer put one on a DK 6010 just to play with it on the machine but have never physically used it. I have looked at the skid steer route but with insurance, equipment price, use with hay equipment in future, and no dealer within an hour and half I decided it may not be the best idea to invest in that, although it would be nice. I hog quite a bit so that’s important.

I do not feel like that is the case. The rear tires are filled, it has gotten light in the rear but not dangerously so. It is plumbed for a grapple, but as of yet does not have one. I have moved trees with the forks, and it can lift a 10 inch pine, from top to root ball, high as the cab roof. The hydraulics seem
a little bit slower, but according to the dealer it痴 because of the cylinder size. I am not in a race, so I do not have to have super fast hydraulics. I wanted the capacity. It picks up 2,200 pound bags of feed with ease. I have a 5 foot box blade I loaded up with big brake drums and an old deuce wheel and tire. It should eliminate any lightness in the rear. Had pretty much decided on Kubota 70 horse, until we saw the kioti. Once I got in it, and got the quote, it was the clear winner. Still almost went Kubota, just because of their name, but the lift capacity really sold me. The sacks of feed I buy are often 2,200-2,500 pounds and that would be maxing the Kubota out. So for less money the Kioti gave Me another half ton of lift. So far I love it. Been to the dealer once, someone at factory over tightened a zip tie
And it eventually broke the fuel pressure sending line. Computer thought it wasn稚 getting fuel and would only run 30 seconds. Other than that, extremely happy.

I have owned new holland, Massey, Kubota, John Deere. John Deere will have the most support for parts. I was and still a Deere fan but now I own a Kubota Grand L5460 cab. It came down to options for me and the fact I bought the tractor for about $6000 less off normal selling price. With all that before I bought the Kubota I was really set on buying the Kioti. For the money you are not going to get a better tractor than Kioti. A friend of mine owns a New Holland and Kioti dealership. He said they have very little trouble with Kioti tractors and the company itself. He is very happy with Kioti quality. Solid rep solid build. If you buy your tractor to use and keep a long time resale is not a issue. Having a dealer within 30 mins to hour away is the key. If you set down and really deal with them you will find Deere and Kubota are going to be very close in price. Same size hp etc the Kioti is going to be a lot cheaper. You may want to look at the New Holland workmaster in that size range. Very beefy tractor with lots of lift capacity. Good luck. It is a big decision.

The key to what?
