It's funny (or ironic) that talk of drinking squeeze would arise with the current pathogen scare...
...Anyone remember 'The Andromeda Strain' ?....a pathogen from outer space was collected by a satellite that crashed in a small western town...the pathogen killed all but two people in the town...one was a baby and the other was sot who drank squeeze...it ended up being what save him...

I remember watching that movie with my mom. I got really upset during the scene where Kate Reid's character went into a seizure with all the red lights flashing. My mom had to explain to me what epilepsy was.

That might be a good movie to watch if you're home self quarantining. Lots of good actors in that flick.

I still haven't figured out why people need to buy so much ammunition to survive. You can only eat so many squirrels and rabbits. Maybe some people are bad shots and they use 15 bullets/shells to shoot one rabbit. Hopefully I won't have to eat too many opossums.

I need very little ammunition to survive....actually none. But that assumes situation normal

Read the book...One Second After. Just one example of something that can change how, or if, we live. Other events can cause the very worst of human nature to present itself. So you can be prepared to survive or not. And there is no point in being prepared with stocks of stuff, if you cannot protect what you have. Most of the ammunition will be used to kill others...it is really that simple.

Some have determined their strategy to survive is not to stock up on food, medicine, TP (LOL), etc etc. They intend to take what they need. A predator does not attack the strongest of the herd but the weakest.

Of course, something like that would never happen. So why worry about it? Yet some do.

I think the movie is considered the first "techno thriller"...FWIW...there is a sequel recently published 'The Andromeda Evolution'

The late Michael Crichton's literary archive and production company has authorized a sequel to his breakthrough novel The Andromeda Strain.

HarperCollins announced Tuesday that The Andromeda Evolution will come out Nov. 12. The book will be a collaboration between science fiction author Daniel H. Wilson and CrichtonSun LLC., for which the author's widow, Sherri Crichton, serves as CEO.

Its publication marks the 50th anniversary of The Andromeda Strain, Crichton's techno-thriller about scientists fighting a lethal extraterrestrial microorganism. Released when Crichton was just 27, it was later adapted into a feature film and television miniseries, with Ridley Scott among the producers.

"It's exciting to be shining a spotlight on the world that Michael so brilliantly created and to collaborate with Daniel Wilson," Sherri Crichton said in a statement.

"This novel is for Crichton fans; it's a celebration of Michael's universe and a way to introduce him to new generations, and to those discovering his worlds for the first time."

Reading this very logical post reminded me of a scene in the movie "We Were Soldiers". When a Soldier asked the Sergeant Major why he didn't carry a rifle he said "If I need a Rifle there will be plenty of them laying around".

The Aliens series of movies plot kinda reminded me of the Andromeda Strain plot, only in space. Bring in an alien species to weaponize it.

Reading this very logical post reminded me of a scene in the movie "We Were Soldiers". When a Soldier asked the Sergeant Major why he didn't carry a rifle he said "If I need a Rifle there will be plenty of them laying around".

Been watching The Walking Dead series and I'm disappointed there are few to no shotguns. Always handguns and assault rifles. I'd figure there'd be hundreds of thousands of shotguns laying around after the apocalypse.

Two Military Officers knock on a Doctor's door to announce 'we have a fire'. When he gets ready to leave, his wife gets all upset about him leaving their guests during a dinner party.

#4 are you people kidding me, is someone warring their feelings on their shirt sleeves or what, there wasn't anything wrong with the 3 previous threads. But since this thread will be shut down soon I'm getting in this closed thread group so I wont have that left out feeling.

TP is running low here but not out, most people I work with are more concern over a beer shortage. I think there are groups of people trying to create a TP shortage so they can make money on ebay. The good news is paper mills and loggers are now hiring..............
