I got a COVID-19 marketing email from Everlast today. Wow, you guys are "monitoring the situation"!

Seriously, it makes you look bad.

Probably have to due to liability reasons. The one time they don't have one of the employees contracts it....lawsuit.

Well,
I apologize. I know this doesn't read well at all. I feel the same exact way about it.

There is a new guy who has been recently been put in charge of social media.

The fact is and probably one reason this was initiated, was that the company is in the out there in San Francisco where it is affecting a lot and everyone is hyper-concerned. We also have had a few inquiries about issues at the factory (which we are in production, though slowed a bit with reduced compliment, and have been supervising production in China with some of our Canadian staff over there) and how it is being handled. I've been personally in contact with the factory. They are monitoring temperatures every 2 hours, and are working in full PPE, and sanitizing everything, probably to excess. Our factory is well out of the main area of issue and cases have dropped to almost 0 there. We've even shipped PPE into the factory ourselves to make sure the supply chain is uninterrupted as possible on parts and on units.

Even where I am at, in rural Georgia we are concerned since it is hitting within 2 counties distance. My daughter is out of school for 3 weeks. Our community is a retirement area with older population (and a poorer one as well) and not far off the major interstate N and S. The number of confirmed reported cases are going up by a 1/3 a day roughly. The stores are still full though with the exception of toilet paper by and large. Not sure what that is about but the majority of things are sufficient in supply. But people are staying at home. I guess we are generally more prepared for things like this since we face hurricane seasons and tornadoes and bad weather and such frequently.

I guess in truth, in a situation like this, with so much information and misinformation floating around, it is hard for younger people to know how to act or react. I grew up where we didn't have a fast food joint within the county and precious few anywhere. One tiny grocery store to shop at. That sort of thing. My wife didn't. She grew up close to Mobile, in an upward and growing area, where everything was close by. She still doesn't understand why I will buy meat just because it is on sale or marked down and put it in the freezer. She is changing her mind now though.

Again, personally I apologize for this tone deaf/poor taste statement if anyone got one.
I'd please ask you to let them know your feelings direct as it will ensure that this won't happen again. Call 977 755 9353 ext 201 or 202 to register your feelings in person. That will do wonders.

I seen it as a “ we’re open for business” e-mail. Nothing wrong with that.

I could sorta agree with the "were open for business" idea, but.....
I actually see it more as... we are trolling for business...., and we can make a little advertising hay out of this crisis.

There sure is a lot of hyper sensitivity going around lately.

First I think they should have a banner on top of their web page with a link to what is in the email

with a little rewording.

Some people may hesitate to buy stuff from China, even items as high quality as Everlast.

I'm sure most of us are getting similar emails from many sources. Little factors like

from the email
and

from Mark are important.

And Mark, thanks for the further info.

Well we are definitely that. Supply is still good. Most, but not all, of our staff is younger, under 50.

I've been getting COVID-19 emails, much like the one from Everlast, from many vendors. Some I've not done business with nor heard from in years. Fact is, letting customers know that you are taking preventative measures to ensure you aren't extending or increasing the problems is simply good business. Were my parents the only ones who taught 'better safe than sorry'. Fact is, nobody knows how bad it could get. Taking action as though it is really bad is the key to prevent making it worse.

Me too... many emails from lots of different companies. I don't really mind it. Never hurts to reach out to your customers. This is an easy safe way to stay connected since we can't shake hands anymore! :D

I have as well, I think someone who is bothered by it is just looking for something to get pissed off about
