<snip>
But when I got home I read an email from the carpenter I hired three weeks ago to come fix several things here in prep for selling my farm, and he just advised me he was cancelling all his jobs and staying home. Really? I live alone on a 24 acre farm, not like crowds of folks wandering through here. I wonder if he got sick and this is his way of dealing with it. There can be many good reasons like his own health, but sure annoying and makes me scramble to find someone else.
Perhaps he thinks staying home safe is better since it appears everyone will be compensated by the government.

I like your optimize, but no one believes the Chinese numbers. Most articles I have read places Chinese numbers off by 10X what they are claiming. An interview yesterday on the news with an individual in Wuhan, they are still under quarantine and strict isolation measures. Even in the US press briefings they have commented that the Chinese have not been telling the truth to the other nations.

Current projections for deaths in the US alone from this outbreak is between 200,000 to well over a million. The experts are hoping for a death rate between 1-2%, which the flu is 0.1%.
And they threw out most if not all of the American press.
No reporting, no cases.
Just like it was here for weeks.

I hope the deniers realize that we are well past the point where their positions had a chance of realization...They will never have an opportunity to say "I told you so"...the measures being taken by the powers that be have already more than proved themselves to be both prudent and effective...just look at the available data...If the deniers had a modicum of a clue to interpret the data they would simply sit down and shut the **** up...!

Exactly Slash but understand, Blue Ribbon Whiners abound in this country. It's a national past time, whining about poor decisions and try to lay the blame on someone else for your own stupidity.

Maybe the majority of them will expire from the Wuhan Flu. We'd probably be better off for it. They can then whine to the maker. I'm sure he will listen, for an eternity.

I did a terrible thing.
I went to Walgreen for some eye drops. The place was nearly empty and people were pretty far apart. All of a sudden I sneezed. It happened so fast I didn't think to cover my nose and mouth. The one lady who was near me could be washing the clothes she had on right now. I'm so ashamed.

You have to grudgingly admit that XI came up with an almost perfect biological weapon and like a good dictator, did a first article test on his own subjects.

Pretty insidious disease really. Best part is, if you best it, nothing says you cannot get it again and again and again kind of like the common Asian flu but with a twist, it don't impact young kids so much, just adults so it's a nice population control and repeat performances as you age, the mortality rate increases so it's a helluva retirement package too.

Cannot beat it. My hat is off to XI and his biological weapon. Great tool and I especially like the way he tested it out on his own people. Smart dictator there... Make sure it works as planned before you 'accidentally' let it leak out so as not to put the blame directly on yourself. Come out smelling like a rose and watch the world succumb.

What is really funny is that here in North America, the trees are budding out and tree pollen, and other pollen numbers are rising fast. Those that suffer from allergies are going to be doing a lot more sneezing in the next few weeks. Bad timing..

After I took the wife to work I went to Walmart. Other than paper goods stocking was OK at 7am for the most part. Milk was full, the selection of tuna was more or less stocked and I got 60 pounds of dry cat food because TSC ran out yesterday. I did see one basket with a 12+ roll of TP. Several cars were in the parking lot. Town is mostly dead with no school or college and many businesses told to shut down. McDonald's appeared to be Drive Thur only. Dental offices, barber shops, etc was closed by the KY governor. All day care closes at 5 PM tomorrow I think. Gas is $1.83 but no one was pumping at 7 am it seemed. Town was dead.

Things are not going to be back to normal in any 2 weeks. Talked to one successful contractor who is only managing his rental properties. He is good but does have a $23K monthly payment for some of the newer stuff. Over time if people do not pay their rent and he can not remove them he said it would be stressful but most likely there will not be others with money looking for housing. Employment is going to keep dropping locally at least near term. Businesses on the edge already I expect will for the most part just close shop. More and more will go ahead and get on Social Security if that is an option open to them I expect.

We have rain and more rain but flowers and trees are hopeful looking and seem to indicate that the world is going to keep spinning. :)
