Toilet paper

I had the same thought but have told by elders newspaper also works but all of the above is a problem for modern plumbing.

Maybe those going through this will never be without toilet paper stockpiles just like my grandmother with a staple of pantry items and emergency cash.

Where are those old thick telephone books when you need them in pinch? Or the big old Sears catalogs? Rough sliding but better than nothing.

Well I do not get the big thick ones anymore but they (somebody) sends out about 3 different mags, with the right kind of pages . . . :D

Maybe 30 years ago, my wife and I were driving through Wisconsin. We kept getting passed by fire trucks for something like 30 miles. We could see smoke in the distance. When we finally go up to the town where all the excitement was, the Flambeau Paper Company was on fire. Kinda ironic.

Paper mill fires are not that uncommon. But one big enough to warrant outside assistance is.

Flambeau Paper is still there as far as I know. But it’s been circling the bowl for at least 15 years. I’m not sure of their current status, but last fall they closed. And I heard they restarted. But my guess is if they go down again, it will be final. The grades they complete in are made by much larger and faster machines. And the specialty grades are diminishing in demand.

Well, you made me curious. It was August 21, 1992, when we took the tour of the Boise Cascade Paper Mill. They said they had 1,300 employees, had one machine turning out a 29' wide sheet of paper and other machines only turning out sheets 13 feet wide. Pretty interesting place.

I’m not sure of the dimensions and only saw #3. It is a gigantic machine that produces over 1,000 tons per day of copier paper.

What is wrong with using a cloth washrag... reusable. Didn't any of you wash diapers at a far greater rate than an adult would go through? Surprised that all the 'greenies' aren't on this bandwagon.

X2 on the Japanese toilet. We love it and the septic system gets way less TP too. Win, win.

Same here. One of the best things I've ever spent money on.

I've been to Japan twice, and when I first seen the "washlet" toilets, I was a little bit curious. After using one, there was no question I would have one in my house.
