I worry that a lot of folks who had stress issues or even psychological issues like depression before this pandemic showed up
are going to have a hard time coping. All the more reason to do something nice, buy a meal for the person behind you in the drivethru,
let them go ahead in traffic if it's safe. We can all do a lot of nice things to calm stressed folks down if we are aware it would really help.

We may be tough self reliant guys but a lot of folks aren't and we all live together.
Every day is an opportunity for kindness.
This is a particularly good time to be kind.

I watched faces in the supermarket. Not many smiles. Best I could do was just thank the cashier.

Careful... you'll get labeled as a crazy, looney, L*&eral...

I really like your idea. It is bound to happen that some of us will get this.

Maybe have it started by one of the Moderators with a stern warning. "Anyone posting anything negative is suspended for 10 days" And allow those of us who wish to pray for those affected to do so.

I absolutely agree.

There's a member here who's wife has been tested positive. But I won't divulge who he is.

I just think we would all learn a lot by hearing from them daily.

Shooterdon makes a post about his intentions to visit his neighbors. He did not say he was going over there to hug them, or spit on them. If someone is around a neighbor and stays the recommended 6' back, life goes on....Good Lord Agnes!

There's a reason why state governments are taking these precautions.

Like I said, if there is a needful reason that can't be avoided - like rendering aid - then sure ... otherwise there's a distinct possibility that life may not go on for someone ...

Something I never thought about... just got a wedding invitation for my cousins son up in Pennsylvania in June. He's going for his master degree out west and his fiancé is going to school out there as well.

What the heck do you do if you're planning a wedding in the next couple of months? I'm lucky, my wife and I only had about 70 or so people and (we even didn't need to have a wedding but my father would of prefered one and so did her parents), relatively small and cheap, but man, some women really get into BIG weddings.

My best Brother In Arms' daughter was scheduled to get married mid May. They've rescheduled for mid October.

Yeah ... why would one do that ?

Could be endangering the neighbor ... or endangering themselves ...

I mean, if there is some needful reason that can't be avoided, well sure ... but it sounds more like a social outing ...

I agree. And I am confident Don is intelligent and diligent about the risks. I'm also sure his friend is the same.

Again the holier crucifying the lesser.

I don't think it has sunk in to most Americans that there are forecasts that a third to a half of the population will test positive by summer. And only isolation can level out the forecasted extreme peak that would overwhelm all health care by some large multiple - like 10x as many sick as there are treatment facilities. Anything that anyone can do to soften this extreme impact seems to me to be worthwhile.

And in a pandemic, neither does dissemination of false information that clearly has the potential to endanger people's lives.

All information is potentially false until proven true, so maybe 95% of this thread is still opinions of peoples who haven't contracted the virus.

The high transmissibility aspect is a big problem ...

It's THE problem and the reason the spread is so freaky. According to several links in this thread (read or otherwise:rolleyes:) it detracts from the actual death percentages, which are more like flu. (Italy's avg age of death is 79.5 YO) Still no numbers for TBN member deaths. Must be in the hundreds by now, or most of us might better stick to picking winning lottery numbers vs considering what we write as factual "information.".

btw, knowing the age of a victim means nothing with no knowledge of past medical conditions, lifestyle, or hereditary predisposition. It's like wondering why some dogs live more than 10 years and some don't with nothing to go on but their age at death.

I take back what I said earlier about those that have tested positive starting a thread.

DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!

You will get ridiculed and condemned by the holier on TBN. Mercilessly!!!!!

There seem to have been a couple of questions recently about why health officials are saying N95 masks aren't necessary. I don't know if this has been answered or not, but here goes:

An N95 mask blocks 95% of all particles that are 0.3 microns (10^-6 m) or larger. However, virus-laden droplets are produced when you talk, breathe, cough, and sneeze. The size distribution of these droplets are well established. Sneezing produces "large" droplets, around 100 micron and higher. Coughing, speaking, and breathing create droplets in the range of 1-100 micron, with a concentrated peak around 5 micron.

Now, at first blush, it may seem like the masks will do a good job, therefore, of filtering out these droplets. The actual answer, is yes and no. As droplets enter the air, depending upon the relative humidity of the surroundings, they can quickly (a matter of seconds) evaporate down to sub micron levels. Most viruses are on the order of nanometers (10^-9 m) in size. So, one small submicron fluid droplet can have many viruses suspended inside. These smaller droplets are what cause the concern. Larger droplets quickly fall to the floor due to their sedimentation velocity and pose little risk unless someone coughs or sneezes directly onto you. Smaller droplets (submicron) can stay suspended in the air for multiple hours. Recent research has also shown that Coranaviruses can stay viable (alive) in droplets in the air for 30 minutes - 3 hours. This is one of the biggest concerns for transmission. These smaller droplets are much smaller than 0.3 micron, so even with a perfectly fitted respirator/mask, it is useless to keep you from breathing these smaller particles. This is why the 6 foot rule is in place. It is believed that 6 feet will provide a large enough distance that even when these droplets are dispersed into the surroundings, the concentration will be so low due to mixing with the surrounding air that the risk of infection is greatly reduced.

However, if YOU are sick a mask will prevent you from dispelling infected droplets. Remember, the masks filter 95% of anything larger than 0.3 microns, and the droplets coming out of your mouth are almost universally greater than 1 micron, as there isn't time for them to evaporate before they hit the mask/filter. So, if you think you may be sick, or are worried about possibly infecting someone else, definitely DO wear a mask.

So, the efficacy of a mask is not in protecting yourself, but in protecting others. So, wearing it yourself does very little. But, if everyone else wears one, YOU will be protected.
