Oakland Hills 500' elevation...

I can go years not setting foot in SF.

That said, SF has an amazing skyline and with the Bay Bridges makes for amazing City Lights back drop.

In 2010-12 homes in her neighborhood going for +/- 250k or about $100 a square foot.

Aha! That makes sense.

I went to school at Merit College for a bit while establishing my Cali registry before entering Cal-Berkeley. Lived on Haste three blocks south from the Cal campus. Miss all the late night food dives. I'm sure most are long gone.

Merit just below Skyline??? If so you know the view!

A lot of the places like Bertolas with 59 cent drinks or Kingfish or even Giovanni's and Larry Blake's gone now...

A family friend owned much of the land below Merit but that was in the early 80's

Remember Blondie's pizza?

Yes I do know that view.

I also remember College Ave Burrito Shop... is that still around. We would buy a burrito for $5 and it was huge. Half for a midnight snack and the rest the next day. Good ole days of school on a shoe string budget. What about Top Dog! A little shack next to campus that also served us meatheads after midnight!

Yep... Top Dog with 3am closing is a local institution.

Small world regarding College Ave Burrito Shop... owned by a friend of mine and my family goes way back with the family of the owners wife... founded in 1978

That is when I came down... 79-82 timeframe.

You probably met David... hard working guy all through High School.

By the way... I called him when I was Kubota shopping as he had bought a B20 for his property in the foothills...

We talked about old times and his endorsement of Kubota sealed the deal and not long after I picked up my BX23...

An amazing view for me would not include human made structures of any kind. The only thing I can see in the distance is a couple of radio towers and that's too much.

I used to feel that way, also. I made a comment to that affect while visiting my grandfather years ago in the hospital and he disagreed immensely. His view from his bed looked out over the city which had supported him and his family for 80 years.

If I'm reading right, I don't think you'll want your acetylene cylinder to be at a 45 degree angle, it could draw up acetone into the regulator and bad things happen. They recommend letting one stand for 24 hours if it has to be transported laying down.

Correct. I rethought my design and mounted the O2 on a 45, giving me room to mount the acetylene standing up straight.

Views... everyone has one.

Wish I had a better photo taking ability so I could post a night time cityscape... it never gets old.

That said time spent in Washington State is good for the soul... the forest, streams and salt water lagoons far enough away to be in your own little world...

Did you get the flying bug?

Nice view. But I don't think you should own a dozer like that in California, and it would be best to have it shipped out here. So you have a Deere 350B too????

The D3 is my first tractor... and amazing what a green operator with patience and time can accomplish...

Dad had a friend with a large family grading and paving concern... after the Oakland Fire Storm the folks were mandated to put in fire breaks/trails.. this is all steep terrain.

Dad's friend said he would send his son over when things were slow... well, things never got slow.

So I said we need to get it done and bought the dozer...

Somehow word got to Dad's friend and he went ballistic... had dad scared to death that I was going to kill myself... dad even said to sell it and he would cover any loss...

Anyway... I just kept plugging along and Dad's friend came by one day and was rather speechless... he was amazed at what had been accomplished... saying the grade and cuts were expertly done... even said he was hiring if I was interested.

I understand he was in business and was using an over abundance of caution...

The Deere 350C is at the Christmas Tree Farm... it is what I call a little mountain goat compare to the D3.

Worth mentioning the D3 save my life... I was just doing a little clean up and calling it a day... all of a sudden WHAM... a large Bay Tree on the upslope where I was just traveling by landed right on top of me... didn't even know what happened as I was buried in branches... the ROPS took a direct hit and a lessor ROPS would have been crushed along with me... all of this witnessed by Mom who happened to see it in slow motion.

Taught me the value of ROPS... never in a million years did I consider I would be hit be a random tree.

Agreed, but many have no choice other than to play the hand they were dealt.

Views from my place... we are particularly blessed and it helps with a quarantine!

I have always seen a certain beauty in radio towers. :)
Where others see "eyesores", I see grace, beauty, functionality, engineering and service.

Yes, I have been considered weird by others before. :)

For some reason this does not surprise me a bit! :D
