Largest daily death toll of any nation so far in Covid pandemic. Kinda shocking to read that on the same day that China reports zero deaths for the first time.

I wonder what would have happened had we made use of a six week head start?

I wonder what would have happened had we made use of a six week head start?

That's just it...all the recommendations to the public would have been mostly ignored until the general public got woken up...until they got scared they would have done little...if sporting events had not been canceled people would have went anyway...look at the spring break idiocy and that was even after an actual threat was known...

There really was nothing that could have been done that would have changed anything other than possibly some better chosen words and warnings...

And with such a partisan legislature it would have taken just as much time to get funds released for equipment and supplies...

We're catching up on testing but we are still far behind in the important statistic of tests per million population. Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, Austria, Portugal, South Korea, Israel, Norway, Australia, Ireland, Denmark, UAE, Finland, Qatar, Iceland, Singapore, New Zealand, Estonia, Slovenia, HongKong, Lithuania, Bahrain, Cyprus, Cayman Islands, and even Greenland !!! have done more tests per million population than the USA. FYI, Greenland only has 11 total cases.

Yes. And, sporting events could have been cancelled Feb 1. That would have been "early" and would have met with resistance but leadership is about getting ahead, not following the public. By the time Fox and others had stopped yammering about "hoax" etc, the world number of cases would have been climbing and reasonable Americans would have seen the wisdom in taking early action.

Good leadership counts for a lot. Bad leadership counts a lot too. Saying that leadership does not matter is just wrong.

That's a pipe dream...or would have been before the education the world is getting right now...

The majority of people don't even bother to keep a two week supply of essentials on hand...maybe in hurricane and tornado country a few more may stay prepared but not near as many as you might think...heck most wait until a storm is knocking on the door before the herds clean out the water and dairy sections of all the coastal grocery stores...

As for the sports...yeah right...like those (rich , greedy) franchise owners are just going to say hey we better shut down our cash cows for the good of everyone...LoL...another pipe dream (until now)...

I find this reluctance to acknowledge that this drug is working JUST because the president expressed hope and a "feeling" that it would work despicable. Just despicable. If president Obama had expressed the same personal "feeling" these same people HERE would be touting his wonderful prediction. Many doctors worldwide are touting this drug and trials are continuing in NY and other places. There is enough evidence that this drug is efficacious for at least some people in some circumstances that trials need to continue. To continue to disparage president Trump as a "pretender" and to put your head in the sand and deny the possibilities of this drug combo JUST because Trump talked it up is just stupid. To be quite honest, I didn't want to jump in here and make this already political thread even more political, BUT some of you just won't shut your political mouths.
