Massey 1710 / 1758, Ventrac 4500Y / TD9
I let a friend drive my GC1710. I warned him not to drive with the bucket raised. He did exactly that and a firewood round tumbled back and smashed the hood and headlight. Aahhh.

The tractor runs fine, but I need a new hood, etc. Is circling back to my dealer the best option?

Not really a friend if he doesn't step up and pay.. But if its a newer machine then the dealer I guess....Good Luck..

Same, same, same 'ol story; different day:
Load out the tractor; came back broke.
I don't borrow or loan, ever.
Problem solved.

You’ll be closer to $1500 all said and done to make it right.

No one runs my machines except me.

Is the hood broken beyond use? Maybe it's an opportunity to do some design work on the tractor? Maybe paint a large eyepatch on the front end, claw marks around the breaks. Have some fun with it before you decide to replace.

I definitely would look into adding LED worklights on the ROPS, before replacing a semi useless headlight.

A lot can be done if repair costs are high. A good example:

^^^^^DITTO.....EXACTLY CORRECT!
I don't loan mine....ever!
Neighbor offered to loan me his MiniEx.
I said thanks, but no thanks.

A neighbor wanted to borrow my nearly new LS4140. I looked at him like he was nuts.

I lent my clamp on forks to another buddy. He twisted them up the first day. I had already purchased SSQA forks so no loss of use...but he never did offer to pay for them.

I do have some "loaner" tools. When someone looks at my old Craftsman 3/8 corded drill and then admires my 20V Dewalts I just smile and say my good stuff likes to stay home where daddy takes care of them.
