I am considering buying a NX6010 series tractor for vineyard use. The only transmission option I have is HST. The vineyard is 9 acres in varied hilly terrain. I will need the tractor to mow with bush hog, spray with a 3 pt sprayer weighing up to 1400lb
,discing rows 1 or 2 times a season with a disc weighing 1300lbs. Do you all feel the HST can handle this use? Will the 60HP Kioti be adequate?
Any thoughts will be appreciated.
TIA,
John

Kioti NX6010 HST has adequate weight and adequate power.

What is the spacing between vineyard rows?

NX6010 outside-to-outside rear tire width will be around 64". Rear gang on Disc Harrow likely 70" (+/-) You do not want vines in leaf or fruiting broken.

Is sprayer powered mechanically by tractor PTO or tractor hydraulic pump? NX6010 has ample power for PTO operated sprayers.

NX6010 has tractor hydraulic pump flow of 18 gpm. Good flow for a standard tractor but not enough hydraulic flow to power powerful two row spray rigs.

I passed 37 happy years in the wine biz, 24 years in California.

Rows are 7 ft width. Most folks here in Oregon using Domries disc variable size but approx 56-58" wide.
Sprayer is 3pt PTO Requires 20+PTO HP.
I am getting a lot of folks nay saying to HST prefer manual or sync shuttle thoughts?

If your vineyard is rectangular, therefore long vineyard rows, synch shuttle with no leg operated clutch will be a tad more efficient in transmitting power to ground and in fuel efficiency relative to HST. Only a tad. If your vineyard is square, so you turn down new rows often, HST and synch shuttle will be equal. HST yields a little power transmission to gear on slopes.

Very few employees can competently operate an "old school" clutch and gear tractor. High probability of regular clutch rebuilds. Some likelihood of tractor crashing through vineyard rows. Can roll backward from stop on hills. Slow forward/reverse cycles during Loader work.

90% of compact tractors are sold with HST. Easiest transmission for employees and family to operate. Very intuitive. Most controllable.

If you buy a Loader have sales person take it completely off and replace it for you. You will want Loader off for for visibility most of the time.

Obtain a NX6010 brochure from the dealer and study it.

I am going to get a FEL but will also get front Suitcase weights and rear ballast for most of its use. One reason I am looking at this tractor is to get width narrow enough to use in rows but have option for FEL for random use and to convert to forks for harvest and lifting/loading bins. The specs on Kioti say width 65.7 inches do you think I can decrease that 2-4 inches with either dishing wheels or going to next size narrower tire?
Thank you again

Probably not. 65.7" is probably width of tractor axle or bodywork at widest point. Discuss with your Kioti dealer.

R1/ag tires are always adjustable for tractor stance as two-part rims are standard. Rear wheels/tires must be set wider than front wheels/tires. So wheel width adjustment can usually be made wider but not narrower with R1/ag tires.

R4/industrial tires are usually on one piece or welded rims which cannot be configured to different widths. A few de luxe tractor models have two-part, adjustable width rims with R4/industrial tires. I am not too familiar with Kioti models.

Consider an increment lighter/narrower Kioti tractor. What weight tractor is required to pull your Domries Disc Harrow will be the controlling factor.

You hit it right on the head. I am trying to find the tractor that has FEL capability for forks etc., Heavy enough to work the Domries, enough HP to handle the job and a transmission to withstand the strain. Albeit relatively low use 10-20 hours a year on discing. Rest of hours spraying, mowing etc.
Other consideration DK6010 HST Cab at 57.7HP & little over 4,000 lbs w/o ballast in rears & suitcase weights. Width can get down to 62 1/2 inches.

HST is used on huge construction equipment. HST is robust.

One or two inches is immaterial. During a hot day, after operating the tractor three or four hours, when your safety specs are dirty, your concentration is reduced and the tractor will involuntarily wander more than a few inches. Ask me how I know.

I am trying to find a tractor that has FEL capability for SSQA forks. Heavy enough to work the Domries 10-20 hours a year discing. Rest of hours spraying, mowing etc.

I perused Domrie's web site this morning. Immediately impressed with robust build. I expect a Domrie's Disc with 22" diaper pans will tax the 4,200 pound bare weight tractors you are considering. Cannot advise more. The Domries are sufficiently specialized that I would need experience using one to evaluate the draft/resistance load it place on tractor in the field.

In my experience, unless your vineyard is very stoney, notched pans front and rear will cultivate deeper than smooth pans and leave a less lumpy output. The steel in disc pans is very durable alloy, usually Boron steel. I have been pulling a high quality Monroe Tufline disc with notched pans for five years over sandy loam in Florida. The notched pans look like new.

Seven inch pan spacing gives a smoother output. Nine inch pan spacing penetrates deeper, due to less pan float, but output is a tad rougher.

Jeff
Our soil is mixed some stones not too bad. I agree anything under 5000lbs concerns me and thanks for your comment on the couple inches and hate to ask how you know!! Back to looking at Kubota but quite pricey (10-11K) to retrofit a FEL to their narrow series.
Thanks again

Plenty of power with a 6010. Get all four tires filled with Rim Guard to give you the weight for luggin the disk. The Sprayer will not be an issue.
