Not sure what Rural living has to do with Paypal. It's been great for me and my E-Bay puchases. The trouble, BS and dysfunction starts when you have to contact them and I hope I never have to do that again as long as I live.

I have decided to skip PayPal altogether.
They were absolutely no help in a recent E-Bay dispute, and the E-Bay phone site has been shutdown for the virus.
I am just going to rely on my credit card company for dispute use.

So, how does one go about deleting a Paypal account? Especially since I no longer need it.

Stop using it. I very rarely use mine, but it's there for those rare times when it's the only payment somebody will accept.

I too received the Paypal notice of my account being hacked. But I'm not very savvy on computers. So I just delete anything that seems suspicious. And I really don't like using Paypal (even rarely) and will probably never order anything from here on that requires it.

That is exactly what I have decided to do.
Use PayPal only when there is no other option.

I just ordered a set of 6.0 batteries for my Dewalt, the seller only accepted PayPal. They listed a US address so it wasn't until I confirmed the order that I realized it's apparently a Chinese company, and probably will ship from there. They won't get paid before my order ships but have given me no indication of when that will be... I also haven't figured out yet how to cancel the order. I need them for a project next week, "Whenever" isn't going to cut it.

If PayPal cancellation does not work, contact your credit card company.
If the item shows up anyway, some days/weeks later, just refuse delivery, and watch for a credit to be applied to your account.
Take a picture of the package before you refuse delivery.

Always check the sender email and DON'T EVER click on those links of dodgy emails.

The sender email address will tell you nothing since it can be faked. Click one of those links and you could lose all your personal info, have your bank accounts emptied, or your entire PC could be hijacked/encrypted! Be afraid, be very afraid! :shocked:

Far as Paypal is concerned, I've had an account for many years. That organization has always had the reputation of being arrogant and not user friendly. Use with caution.
