It’s a little saw in the PNW falling saws category.

Have you ever heard of Five Star Tree Farms before?

In Sublimity, OR? If so yes. The comment above about "little saw" meant I understand.

Five Star was five Christmas tree farms included into one name, one was in Molalla, us in Rainier, another out in Gales Creek, and the two others I never met.

I believe I mentioned earlier in this thread, that yesterdays helper wanted this top log for payment for his help,

So today, being another nice day, I loaded it on the BSM,

and started milling it,

BUT, it didn't take too long, and we found some wire in the log. (you can see the black spot in the end of the log) SO, we ended up cutting 2' off the log to clear all the wire and kept milling,

So my helper still ended up with some pretty nice looking lumber,

Next, I will start splitting all the rounds we cut to length earlier...

Did you fine the wire with the saw blade? If you did probably toast, could be worse could've found the back log stop on the mill.

How does lead affect your blades when you find it in a log?

Hunt I have a MS311 with the 24" bar and when my back was decent was sort of OK  now no way . . . I do have a 20" bar for it.

Yeah, I just use the MS362 when I have to, I mostly use my MS260 with a 18"bar, its about half the weight seems like.

Unfortunately I've done that a couple times!

Yes I found it with the band, but all it did was take a bit of the sharpness out... I still finished the cant with that band, as it was still cutting straight.

Lead will do the same thing, unless it's lead shot which doesn't have too much effect of the band, unless there's a LOT of it.

Done what, the wire or log back stops or both, my mill was just 1 hr in 2011 when my son hit the log back stop, so far it's only been a couple more times, and it will toast the blade.
