I'd be interested in your quote. I had a Hansen builder quote me $35K for my 30x40x12 barn.

I'll let you know what I hear later today, I am going to be pricing something close to 2000sqft with 12 foot walls as well. Besides an overhang and a few windows I am looking to keep pretty basic.

I have a couple windows in my pole barn, and wish I didn't. They only added a little expense, and they improved looks from the outside, but I hate that they waste wall space when I need it. They also add potential leaks. If I was doing it over I would add clear panels along the top of the walls, or maybe not even that. With LED lighting, I find myself using the bright lights most of the time anyway.

39 years ago, I had my Morton built with NO WINDOWS!
No windows, means that no one can see in, and no one can break in.

Per my phone call to Hansen about the steel used:

"Our typical is 29 gauge, but we do have 26 gauge available also".

Morton steel is 19 gauge!

A cheap pole barn is just that....a cheaply built pole barn!
When the high winds come through, your pole barn will be scattered across your neighbor's property.

Huh? 2 years ago, our area suffered a severe hail storm. Morton buildings roofs were damaged right along with other building suppliers roofs.

Are you suggesting that 29 gauge steel has the same resistance to twisting and tearing as 19 gauge steel?
Perhaps you should take some time to visit a strength of materials lab.
