There were millions of unclaimed jobs.
Unemployment was dropping month to month for the last 5 years.

That doesn’t sound like we were on the way to 20% unemployment

Seriously tho, check out Far UVC - the ~ 220 nM wavelength. Virtually instant eradication of virii in air and on surfaces. Eye and skin safe. :confused3:

Of course UVC at 220 nm is effectively extinguished (absorbed and turned to heat) with a path length through air of only a millimeter or so.

It's not called the vacuum UV for nothing ;-)

If you want some UVC, I can set you up with a D2 , deuterium lamp and a power supply to light it up. ;-)

Indeed, it is not called Vacuum UV until the wavelength is below 200nm. Altho the difference of 20 nm seems small it amounts to a 150,000 giga Hz difference (higher) in frequency. The lower frequency of 220 nm does not couple so readily with air molecules and is not so quickly attenuated.​

Correct. He may think our voices are a minority, but it’s really a silent majority. Some of the more hyperbolic news media has a way of making its small group of watchers think they have a majority voice.

Let’s put it this way, people are safe for now walking around the house in fuzzy slippers with the doors locked, but once working people start getting real hungry and homes foreclosed on, they’ll be “ heard “ in more ways than just shouting voices....

As long as the Eagle keeps spitting out SS and retirement checks each month, I'm good. No change at all for me. Unless stores start to fail and I can't buy stuff.

The trouble is it has already, inflation is here and just getting started.
I look at the shelves and the prices in the grocery store, then I see this cute little sign "As a result of our vendors raising prices we have had to follow suit".
I read this as I was standing at the meat counter just to see what was going on, the market price of beef is at the bottom, as low as $0.17 / pound.
But the store prices are flying up, so who is raking in the green.
The small slaughter houses around here are booking kill dates out to the end of June, going out 60 days before they can get to yours (USDA inspected).

You achieve little when living the “ paralysis by over-analysis “ lifestyle.
People are going to die under house arrest under the covers or going back to work with precautions.
The thing to realize is house arrest under the covers is worse, because on top of that you have an economic depression!

It would be better for future generations, even if a few more of us die to avoid a depression (and it may prove to be less people die because of herd immunity) than staying home looking at models and endlessly hypothesizing while we implode from depression and the virus.

You extrapolate unrealistically by not considering the value of real time testing as a tool to enable a safe and effective quick comeback - - and then ultimately to gauge vaccine effectiveness and herd immunity.
