Neighbor dog on my property harassing wildlife

read a disparaging comment from the OP concerning firearms. My only comment to him (or her) is, if you are anti firearm, use a BB gun or a slingshot to dispatch the cur, but be prepared to get bit....

Firearms are a tool and like any other tool they can be used for worthwhile purposes or bad purposes. Protecting ones self or family is a worthwhile purpose.

My meeting with the neighbor was delayed. And I stopped reading about page 30 as several posters kept turning it into a gun thread.

My situation is I am meeting the neighbor soon, possibly today. I will post when I have an update.

They're not listening, are they?

Ticks also, up here. It's hard to believe that such a small, obnoxious insect could be the demise of such a big animal.Winter Tick or Moose Tick - Cooperative Extension: Tick Lab - University of Maine Cooperative Extension
It sounds like the cow which Piloon talks about probably has brainworm.

Moose Brain Worm Moose Sickness or Parelaphostrongylosis

Will see how the Maine draw goes. Been playing the Maine Moose lottery for many years now and have a ton of preference points. Maybe this year. Who knows. The Maine Moose lottery is really pretty cheap even for a non-resident and I do have a nice 'in'. My very good friend is a Mainer and lives west of Bar Harbor, plus, he's a state licensed game trapper and has lived there his entire life so he knows all the good units and he enters us every year. Not sure of we get a draw tag if we will hunt outfitted or not, I'll leave that aspect up to him but I do know what weapon I'll use. I'll use my Smith and Wesson 460 XVR revolver, long barrel with a 300 grain Swift A frame pill in Starline Brass. It's a cannon.

PLEASE give the story where you used a BB gun or slingshot on what animal, and at what distance you got bit.

The only thing I can think of is if you actually got bit using either "weapon", you're a freaking idiot.

To the OP, apologies for the train wreck of topic. Sincerely hope things work out.

I thought the weapon of choice was 12 ga. shotgun with #6 shot.

And they have every right, when many (myself included) hijack their thread, and go so far off-topic with self-righteous gun talk "just shoot the dog to he!! with the neighbor's input' when they CLEARLY STATED THEY WANT TO INTERACT WITH THE NEIGHBORS FIRST!

I have my own situation here, and am following due to my common interest, but have tried to be 'middle of the road' in the whole thing... my hope is that the OP comes to a mutually agreeable solution in their situation. Tough place to be.
