F series question

   / F series question #31
The big question for me is that the F 2690 SERIES is $6k more than the ZD1211...is it worth it?

Last year I traded my F3080 toward a new F2690 RD and then bought a used ZD1211 SD with 40 hours and added a mulching kit. So yes, the F was worth the difference but a decent priced used ZD became available so there you go. But rear discharge or side with mulching kit is the only way I go.

Thanks John...good stuff

The flail looks like a pretty slick rig !

It does but the current price is $4500 for 60" and $4900 for 72" models.

Pretty hard to justify by someone who already has F with good rotary deck and a tractor with a brush hog!

Oh well, maybe next time...

I just found an F for $8,000. Has 1800 hours, rear discharge 72 deck, good tires. Appearance is surprisingly good.
I feel my debt to income ratio getting worse!

I dont know if you mean me, but heres a photo

Yes I meant you, thanks.

That mower looks good and their price will probably stay more firm as the snow behind the mower disappears!

$8 grand may sound like lot of money and it is...
You could save a bunch by buying one with 3000 - 4000 hours on it at a half the price, and spend the next year's (or two?) free time and bunch of money fixing it.

The end result of fixing up one depends a lot on your repair skills and doing your homework before buying one & much more homework while repairing it.

I would inspect this unit carefully for maintenance records, mechanical wear and hydraulics, rear axle, steering linkage (any hydraulic leaks, oil condition?) etc. and if it checks out do my best negotiating the price as best possible and buy it before it's gone.

The used Kubota F mowers will usually sell fast. (Here in the Pacific Northwest it is usually hard to find used Kubota F model)
