Hello all,

After hours of researching and testing tractors until I was blue in the face, I decided that it will either be a Kubota BX2380 or Massey GC1723E with only a FEL. I was going to buy today (Saturday) but couldn't make up my mind before the dealers closed at noon.

Both tractors come from excellent dealers all within a proximity to me. I will use their 0% offers. I know money isn't free but my CU will only go to 3.5% so I've done the math with the cash prices offered...

My thoughts, impressions, concerns, and pricing for Ohio:

Kubota BX2380

$13857 OTD financed at 0% for 60 Mo. Nicely built tractor. I'll only be using the loader and pulling box blades and such so PTO HP and quick attach features don't sway me. I hear the Kubota insurance is nice but I don't plan on taking my tractor off my property so I'd rather not pay that and just use my homeowners. I worry about loader lift capacity mainly compared to the MF. It's nice that they have an additional year of powertrain warranty. Obviously, the resale value is excellent if I ever decide to upgrade.

Massey Ferguson GC1723E

$14032.28 OTD financed at 0% for 84 Mo. Seems like a very solid tractor. The seat doesn't have armrests but I won't be mowing with it so it didn't seem worth the cost of upgrading to the 1725M. The loader seems stronger and quicker. I just get the impression that this a tractor that can do some serious work, which is what I expect it should do. There's one year less on the powertrain warranty. It's slightly more expensive than the Kubota but the monthly payment is less. I don't believe I have to carry as expensive or broad of insurance to finance.

They both are honestly a coin-flip. I went and sat on both of them again after the dealers closed to make sure I was't missing anything comfort and ergonomic-wise. Please share with me your thoughts on either one including the pricing (obviously sales tax is factored in and about 7.25%) Am I overthinking the loader lift capacity thing? I appreciate it!

I saw on the Massey commercial it comes with three point arms for your box blede. They made is sound like that's an optional add on for the Kubota. Did you factor that into your consideration and price?

I had similar thoughts when I bought mine. I picked a GC2610 for the extra loader capacity and wish it had still more.

The Kubota is a solid machine, I’ve never sat on a Massey so I can’t really compare. Most homeowners insurance covers theft and fire but not any damage to the machine while using it. They may force you to get insurance in other words.

I think (just from reading posts here) that Kubota finance will require you to carry their insurance until such time as you have paid off your loan, if you finance through Kubota.

No idea on the Massey.

I think Kubota will require you to buy their insurance if you finance their products. They did when I financed my 3940 some years ago. If you are not getting a mmm on the bota, factor in the price of a belly plate to protect your hydro fan. You may not think you need it until you run over a stump or a small hill of dirt. Kubota is the pack leader in sub compacts for a reason. I owned a MF 25 hp compact in a former lifetime and it was a good product too. Have fun with whichever you go with.

The BX has a 3pt hitch. The 3pt is not a positional control, it will raise and lower, just no adjustable (repeatable) height control. B and larger has it.

As for box blading, you don't realize it yet but, hydraulic top and tilt allows adjustment "on the fly". Box blades are heavy, telescopic lift arms are on option on B and larger Kubotas, don't know about BX. Unless you keep blade always mounted you will add the quich hitch later. I own a BX and a B.

Between the 2 you listed Kubota. The reason for me would be the lack dealer support.Owned a Massey 1240 back in the lates 1990,s had 3 dealers within 30 miles now only one still in business.Might be different in your neck of the woods.

On the FEL capacity, it depends on your uses. I use my forks and grapple a lot so it matters to me.

Think about your jobs. Some people love their little tractor, but many trade up after a short time.
