Who rides motorcycles?

I prefer to kick-start a bike (up to 80 cu in twin), and to 'ride' a bike vs 'drive' a 'two-wheeled car'. :D

To me, two fenders, two brakes, OR throw-over bags are 'full dress' enough. :p

Admittedly, I haven't logged 100k mi on all five H-D I've owned (since '78 .. and still have, minus one I bought and haven't 'gleaned'), but know ye this my brethren, I DO consider a ride of a tank-full or less 'each way' (3 1/2 gal on most, 90+ mi) a 'short' one.

I won't laud anyone by miles traveled, but I'll envy and admire all who ride more than I do.

Biggest problem with kick start bikes (but far from the only one) is they kick back twice as hard.

Less talking, more riding.

This is how I spent my lunch the other day

Good sentiment. Now that the snow is done coming down here (I think....)....... will roll-out more myself .....

What bike is that Rich ? Factory side-bags ?

Dave,

Triumph Tiger 800. And those are factory bags. Bought them used after I had the bike for a while.

Brilliant engine and trans.

Biggest problem with kick start bikes (esp among non-owners) is they kick back twice as hard.

Fixed that for ya. ;) btw, I haven't been 'kicked back' yet. (not since '78) Sorry about your leg.

The problem with all bikes is a rider being strong enough to hold one up at stoplights.

But everyone knew that too. :D

Beautiful picture.

I wonder if you could use some plastic primer and paint for your tank? However, it does match the roadside weeds in the picture. :)

Not a chance! I specifically bought this translucent tank because I can SEE how much gas I have at any one time. I keep topo maps of whatever remote area I'm exploring taped to the top of the tank so I can look down and see them at a glance.

Not many places to fuel in central Nevada even if you stay on pavement!

A couple years ago we left from Jackson Hole in the morning and rode to Old Fateful, Glacer National Park, Then made our way to Sturgis for the night. Going through Montana we were going to run out of fuel had we not found a firefighters camp that had some extra gas. The closest street sign said something like next fuel 90 miles..... Beautiful country,,,but man o man....big country.
