Many of the adults are still kids in grown up bodies.
...

Yep. However, for many of them, it's the only job they can get. I know. I worked at a newspaper for 30 years and watched it change from a youth carrier foot-based delivery system to a mostly adult carrier car based delivery system.

The local newspaper used to be where events of the county were reported. or several towns had the own listing of what was happening. also a for sale column and any required posting of a change of laws .obituaries.
Next month letting my annual subscription expire after over sixty years for myself and almost 20 more reading newspaper Dad had
subscribed.
The reason newspaper has been sold to a Las Vegas, Nevada owner, and dwindled to a very thin, no news, no events can be read in minute of time. The cost of postage usually week late in the information price increase to $52 a year for a weekly paper.
Besides the local gossip is more accurate in the information.

We still take the Sunday and Wednesday paper, but the Sunday, which was a big deal at one time, has shrunk to about what the daily was a few years back. Frankly, it it wasn't for the comics pages, I wouldn't even mess with it, although the advertising flyers are something I like to go through, especially Academy, Big Lots and some of the local supermarkets.

Same here down to Sunday and Wednesday only but get the digital everyday (I usually don't read) I like to read a real newspaper, in other words one I can feel and actually turn the pages of.

I like it. Notice the lack of any large sign indicating to WATCH FOR CHILDREN. Back then, "RUNNERS" simply wouldn't make it to adulthood.

We lived in one place with a milk box. I wonder how much milk got spoiled by people forgetting it was there. My Dad had a quart of whipping cream delivered once a week for many decades. He used to leave the money on the step, with folding money kept from blowing away by a stone.
