I like the snatch block ideas.
Thinking outside the box, could you set fire to the hinge and get it to burn free? Like pack it with something flammable and sticky Like tar and set a torch burning just under it. Get everything around the hinge area nice and soaked before starting the fire. Set up a chair with a hose for any fire control and to keep the adjacent tree from going up. Might need to wedge something like a piece of plywood under the burn area to keep your accelerant from running down the tree.
