We take ours on forest roads. Some people call them "logging roads" which is what they are used for, that plus fire control.

The above road is a park road. There are lots of sand and gravel roads in Texas that are worse than some other states "Trails".

I got the 2nd oil change done to the blue beast yesterday. Looks like on Saturday will be doing a road trip to central SD for a memorial service so we'll get in some real mileage. May pull the camper. Since its warmed up, the fuel mileage is staying close to 20 while in town. Sure do like this silly truck and today after 9000 some miles, I'd say is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. How are you doing with yours??? Curiously, why do you keep referring to it as a "silly" truck? Ford's got a long rep for making good trucks, no reason why this should be any different.

We just got home from a 1500 mile trip towing the camper and can report 9 mpg while doing 70-+ and towing the camper as seen below. This is the 1st long trip we've done with it while towing the camper. I thought the mileage would be better, but that's what you get pulling a big square thing at high speeds. :laughing: In my home state of SD the interstate speeds there are 80 and as you can surmise, drags the mileage down more. Just the same, its little engine could go faster yet and passing other vehicles was no problem. We got this truck with its 260 whatever HP it has for towing this trailer and we are quite happy with it. :thumbsup:

I'm surprised at that mileage. Towing a similar sized U-Haul with my F-150 I got about 12 + . Did you have any headwinds? I've found that just a little wind makes a big difference on the trucks and box trailers.

Arly - what is the trailer towing capacity in your configuration? Do you have an integrated brake controller like the larger trucks?

We did have a modest side wind. Seems to me any wind that's not a tail one, makes mileages go down. Do note, 9 was what the trucks computer stated the MPG was. We never filled the tank and checked it that way. Suppose we should have?

Definitely check it. Mine shows about 0.5 mpg too high on the computer. Hope yours is off the other way. :thumbsup:

When the truck was new we did verify the computers accuracy and at that time, it was pretty close. In not **** about fuel mileage.
