I should have poured this back door patio before I finished my yard. Now I don't want to drive a concrete truck to the back door tearing up the yard. So thought maybe I could just build a patio out of paving stone. My biggest concern is the perimeter. PT lumber won't last long enough since I plan to live another 26 years. So guessing I'll need to form a concrete perimeter. Mix it all by hand I guess.

Really stupid of me to not do this in the proper order.....

Is it too far for a pumper truck?

Probably. Pumper would set on the gravel in the upper part of this pic. Patio would be at the double door.

It’s my opinion unless you are a millionaire it is impossible to do things in the proper order when building a new forever house.

Things change. Needs/wants, interests, ideas and finances to name a few off the top of my head.

I like to think that I planned for change.

Terry you have a very nice place, I guess you don't use salt on the pavers. Is the gate to keep Mark out?

We don’t get much snow, Peter. If necessary I spread ice melter on the asphalt though.

Mark has to use the gated SERVICE lane.

I don稚 know about you guys but I find i really need to take frequent breaks and limit myself to 3-4 hours a day. Getting old sucks....

This algae growth in the PNW is annoying to say the least.

The pavers under the porte cochere however just got washed for the first time in 26 years. A tip I just learned recently is how brake cleaner removes oil stains from concrete and concrete pavers.

I figure I have another 3-5 part days to go....

You just explained me to a Tee. Take a break in the shade, sipping on some water, getting a bit of rest and cooling off.

Don't get old, don't die young either.

Here is an example of unplanned consequences.

Shortly after building my house (1994) we had a landscaper go broke after special ordering a load of Pin Oak tress.

I decided to line both sides of my driveway with them. They were 8-10 feet tall/2 inch diameter.....

This small parking area adjacent to the garage was an after thought a few years after the tree was planted. Kind of thought it was a little close to the tree but the extra 12 inch radius paved area was necessary for balance.

AFTER the pavers lifted I RElandcaped the area behind it with the swales and berms to kind of match.

I tell people I was planning a skateboard park for my daughter but couldn’t get funding.
