Is there a way to force TBN to only show the full site or desk top version from a mobile device/Phone (IPhone with Safari) every time.

Mine had only been doing that, but today it started showing the mobile version and IMHO it sucks.

By the way I see a link to do it at the bottom of the mobile site, but an AD keeps me from clicking the link.

Hey I found in my phone settings for Safari there is a setting to always request desktop version of sites.

On the Android version with Chrome browser, there is a menu (three dots on the top right corner). One of the option choices is "Desktop site". It's a browser option, not a site option. You should have this option in the settings for Safari. If you can't find it, just do an internet search for Safari Desktop and you will find instructions.

We will be switching to a responsive layout sooner or later which will mean it's the same layout on desktop and mobile, except certain elements get hidden based on screen size.

The main advantage of this is that the mobile layout will be better than the current mobile setup which is pretty clunky if you're not using our app or tapatalk.

Advice welcome: I put up a family website 20 years ago in plain-vanilla html using MS Front Page and have added paragraphs linked to photos over the years.

Several family members see only 'No Mobile version available' (or no connection at all) and can't find 'Load Desktop site' in their phone browsers. The site needs to be updated to provide phone access.

What does it take to add phone access? Is this a complete re-write?

Any comments welcome. (Rip Van Winkle here).

I just bookmarked the full site on Safari and use it exclusively on my iPhone and iPad. Been that way forever, I do not have, need or want the app.

I bookmark the full site on Safari (iPhone) also. Works perfect. Much better than Tapatalk.

You would need to re-code the site to a responsive design. You're probably better off using a free website creation service like Free Website Builder | Create a Free Website | Wix.com which will automatically code everything from an easy to use web interface.

Thanks! So it isn't just adding a few lines of code. That's what I needed to know.

I doubt I'll ever get around to re-coding the whole site. My daughters, now grown, still want their pix - semesters abroad in India and South Africa, Grad school adventures in Latin America and China, soccer regional champion teams, living in NYC, DC, SF etc etc available. But I'm inclined to tell them to get it done themselves if it needs a whole rewrite. They can tell their friends this is Old School, pre-Facebook, so go look at the site with a desktop to enjoy the full-screen photos.

Pic relevant here. I took this and hundreds more when we visited younger daughter. Another - rural Uber taxis. Also TBN relevant.

Thanks for the link to Wix. I'll at least take a look.

I understand all to well what the OP is referring to. A couple of weeks ago I cleared the history of my i-phone as part of routine maintenance and because of the ad banners cannot get back to the "Full Site" mode. Using it as is makes reading threads too painful to describe, yet since it's my company phone I don't load unauthorized apps. My other choice has been not to visit here by phone.
