I plan to pickup a Hercules miter saw stand tomorrow. I should have a new Dewalt miter saw delivered Friday. I went back and forth between the Hercules saw and DeWalt but finally decided I have gotten good service out of my DeWalt tools.

You should look at this Delta stand, not much more expensive and easy to work. Will fold up and roll without removing the saw!! I've had mine about 4 years , love it!

Got a new, full coupon book in the mail yesterday rather than the abbreviated ones more recently.

I've gone from getting two of all mailers, one to me, one to ranch name, down to nothing. Last I got was in January?

I do still get all the emails.

There is a coupon for $159 for the Hercules stand. I was under the impression the saw can remain attached to the Hercules stand.

Could be, the way it looks it would be a pain... ask if you can try one out first and see how easy it is to do. With the Delta there is only a foot pedal, push the pedal with your foot and it collapses and locks then just roll away. When you are ready to use it again get it in position, push the pedal and raise it up into the work position again..

There are better videos out there but this is a nice short one.. folding it starts at about the 1:35 minute mark

I knew a guy that actually visited a factory in China that made pneumatic tools.

He observed a production line that actually changed brand names every so often.
As I recall he said: SnapOn for 20 mins, then Chicago Pneumatic, Sears etc and so forth.
ONLY labels changed!
Ever notice most labels are stuck on into a machined depression? and no longer part of castings?
Cheaper tools are simply a paper sticker with higher pricy ones sporting a 3D style.

Same but longer ago than that... I only get emails anymore, used to get the catalog things once a month. I was even on ITC last year and never got the mailers that you have to have for the coupons (the weekly email didn't cover everything). I talked to a few managers trying to resolve it with no success, so I did not renew the ITC...

They've told me for a couple years now, that if I don't give them my phone number I won't receive their mailers. I respond with "Promise?" every time. ;) I can get any coupons online or in email, so I really don't need the paper copies.

You don't need to give them a real phone number, they just want an easy way to look you up in their data base and phone numbers are unique, whereas they are more than a few John Smiths.

Once upon a time, when I was much younger, there was an effort to prevent the social security number from being used as a national identifier. There was a concern about freedoms and having to travel with papers like the communists at the time. So here we are today, and the phone number has become that national identifier.

Funny, isn't it. There was concern about the government being able to track an individual. Now today, my name is matched to my face in other relatives' Facebook posts (that don't mention me). I've never had a Facebook account. This is active facial recognition without my consent. I would have to join Facebook to object to this tracking.

Similarly, Google Maps can show every place someone has gone, as default. I turned that off but this just means I can't see it, the history is still live in their dbs. Ever wonder how Google Traffic can show present traffic congestion? Real-time uploads from every phone moving on that route. Google knows ...

Long time ago I moved landline to Ooma. Costs about $5/month and provides a legit disposable phone number to give to those demanding a number but I don't really want to hear from.

For a while one could do the same for free with Google Voice. Maybe still.

Google sued for $5 Billion over data collection practices.

Google faces $5 BILLION lawsuit in U.S. for 'tracking users in incognito mode' | Daily Mail Online

'Through its pervasive data tracking business, Google knows who your friends are, what your hobbies are, what you like to eat, what movies you watch, where and when you like to shop, what your favorite vacation destinations are ... notwithstanding consumers best efforts, Google has made itself an unaccountable trove of information so detailed and expansive that George Orwell could never have dreamed it.'

"... parent company, Alphabet, is worth $950 billion - from its 'unparalleled tracking and collection of consumer personal information and selling and brokering of that information"

Google knows ...

I preferred the extendable arms on the Hercules stand but I liked the wheel width and the way the Delta folded. A 12” sliding compound miter saw is a beast to move and the easy of movement won out over the design of the extendable arms.

The delta has extendable arms on both sides, about 4 1/2 feet on either side of the saw!

Do you carry your cell phone with you in-case someone needs to get ahold of you? If so, how do you think "they" know where to send the call? Your cell phone has to talk to the nearest tower so they know where to send the call. I haven't figured out what this "do not track" really means, I think it's just a "feel good" button, or maybe it doesn't share your location with advertisers.
