Mixed up gasoline cans

Good test. Should help put to rest the supporters of ethanol based fuels in small engines... Like was said .."spawn on the devil". I never run ethanol fuel in any of my small engines any more.

So it's about a dollar more per gallon, for a total of less than 5 dollars?
Not worth the headache, pour it in the car and start over.
BTW, I never found Stabil to work at keeping carbs clean -
a few years ago, I started putting a couple of ounces of Marvel mystery Oil
into the 5 gallon can when I fill it, haven't had any issues since - and I
never spend extra for ethanol free

Actually, by me it's about $3 gallon extra.
Why? Because there is only one station selling it and it's located in a high price part of the county where everything costs more, from a sandwich to a cup of coffee, and especially gasoline. Customers buy it for their boats, I see landscapers filling cans and mixing 2-stroke, etc.
Also, it's a 50 mile round trip for me to drive there.

I can understand if the topic was about the perils of Ethanol...But four pages about a few gallons getting mixed up....C'mon Really?...almost makes you want to post something taboo just to stop the nonsense...!

Maybe you should go read a thread about a Rounded Drain Plug. It will make you feel better about this one,

There are two reasons that thread went on for so long...one: The ineptness of using the correct tool for the job which was suggested in the first couple of pages...Second: it kept all the idiots busy...(think if it as day care for geezers...The wives of said geezers were secretly paying the op to keep the geezers out of their hair)

The OP just wanted to know HOW to tell the difference between the two fuels. Then the pages get filled with people answering the unasked WHY question. :confused3:

Because we’re deep thinkers? it’s easy to over think a simple problem. I know because I’m an expert at it.

I'll chime and say to just pour them together into your car or pickup tank. I'd love to have the 91 octane stuff for the Miata. Generally run the mid grade labeled 89 octane because it's more than likely 90ish octane since I'll bet it's 50/50 blend of the 87 and 93. Miata calls for 91 octane.
