Many other places in the SW are only 5-7 degrees cooler this week.

That's the one thing that saves us here in NE WA state. It might be hot - but Lordy, it's dry.

Right now - 80F but only 30% RH.

I'll take 109F OAT at 12% RH over 85F OAT at 80% RH any day of the year!

Relative Humidity has a greater direct affect on your "comfort level" over outside air temperature by itself.

I was on a "change of station", Sanangelo Tx to Syracuse NY. Stopped and closed out my bank account at 0900. Bank billboard was reading 112 and I'm driving an 89Volvo, no AC!...but it was a dry heat :)

Most uncomfortatable summer I ever spent was in Wa DC. Humidity way up there so any temp over about 72 was miserable. Only place I ever was were one would be sweating with a thunder cell if full swing outside.

I was in Tucson a few years back when they were going through a heat wave. It was 120+ every day. It doesn't matter how "dry" that type of heat is. It was unbearable.

Of course, I also lived in Venezuela for a stretch of time. Real heat is 120 with humidity around 80-90%. The measure of if it was "hot" or not was if you had sweat dripping off the end of each of your fingers while walking down the street. If so, then it was "hot".

Why do they call it 'comfort' level?
That is one thing it isn't.

Not much cooler in northern Nevada. That humidity will typically drop down to 6 - 9% by late this afternoon.

All this talk about heat but nobody mentions that it DOES go below a hundred at night!!

I’ve learned to watch the dew points. The humidity goes down as the temp goes up but the dew point will stay pretty steady. Dew points above 70 is getting pretty humid. Right now we have a temp of 90, dew point 74, resulting in a heat index of 100 in Macomb Illinois.
