I never nailed any, (I don't nail my fine woodworking together! lol) but it's a soft wood and fairly light in weight...

SR

So it's Glue&Screw then, what screws do you use? I use glues and screws to, narrow crown staples if I know I got it right. For screws I use up to 2-1/2 on philips, longer i use square drive or star.

Since I had another cool day I did some road extension work, this will be on going for the next three years or until I get tired of it or until I find a sweet gum tree.
First view is looking back towards bridge, next pic is why tractors are useless without a FEL and last is the result of a FEL...

I extended my 100 yard range in the woods to 200 yards. I had planned to use my tractor to do the work. But I got lucky. My neighbor had a guy come in with a bulldozer to put a new trail in. I had the guy come over and $200 later I was done. A tractor will do the job but it will be slow...a lot slower...but you know that. If your time is valuable, think about renting a dozer. They go for $125/hr here.

You can spend the next three years hacking away at it, or be done in a week or less. Your woods look similar to mine. I got 100 yards cleared in 1 1/2 hrs. If you need to go half a mile, it would take two days with a dozer. One mile should take less than a week.

Is that what the blueprint calls for, is this OSHA approved... Just so I can give my professional opinion, how far apart are the floor joist?

Yes, its what the blueprints called for, I don't care about OSHA. You have a Professional opinion?? Floor joists are 16 oc , like pretty much everything I build..24 oc is the lazy/cheap way out , I don't do it.

I agree with some of your assessment. I watched most of the video. I agree that I could not believe that this guy had this tractor and never changed the fluid especially when you see how bad it looked! You would think he would want to split the whole tractor and clean the whole rear end! However on the other hand he took the thing apart like he had done it many times before. Maybe he had owned many Ford 8N's before. The same with pulling the distributor off with the points. To me he has experience with the tractor and I don't think he would have gotten all his experience just from watching youtube videos.

I agree, he definitely seems like he is familiar with working on them... just not the Hyd system on that one!

Having a backhoe on your tractor might be helpful as well. Especially with stumps and rocks.

Right now I have more time then money so I'll do a little here and there. 2 months ago I had a excavator come over to get some big rocks and stumps out of the way and then dig dome dirt up for me, that was $700.00 but had to be done. The biggest part of the road work now is mostly cutting the brush&trees, mostly brush then push the brush into piles for at least a 1000 more feet and that isn't clearly marked out yet, that's where fall will help with that, so many leaves now it's hard to see 50' in the right direction. So I'mm thinking in the next year or two I'll probably be ready for a dozer or excavator with blade.

Yes of course I do, in my professional opinion I'd saw the lumber at 10/8... My floor joist in my shop is 24" oc, 2x8x16, with several 4x8x16, rafters are 2x6x18 24"oc, yup I'm lazy and cheap.

I thought that AR hillbilly did a great job on that 8n hyd repair with what tools he had and gave some very good pointers, especially when it came to sealing up those 3-point arm pins.

The first thing I'd do on that ole 8n is put ROPs on, yanking on this big oak is dangerous enough, but he did get it down.

Whats the span on those 2x8x16's Get a little bounce in there? Whats the pitch on those rafters? I don't need much here as there is never a snow load.
