Why did they even bother with rebar in that video, seeing how it's just laying on the bottom, and then blown all over the place during the pour? I was watching one of them put wire ties on it and he left it pointed up. So if they'd have pulled it up during the pour, the wires would have been sticking out.

Look under his feet - it's all gone in a bunch of area, and look in the concrete in front of the pour - it's up and at a 45 degree angle. How did it get like that? Probably because they did a poor job tying it, if at all.

No ties. First time I've ever saw that.

No ties. First time I've ever saw that.

They showed a guy putting them in, but then you see that screen grab from the video and have to wonder if they didn't do them all, or....

As I was putting in rebar last month, using the same tie tool the guy in the video was using, if you go real fast and just a spec too much, the wire wraps tight, then cracks and half a spin later it breaks and leaves just 1/2 a turn of wire holding things together. If you bump it or step on it, it lets loose.

So I wonder if they put them on and spun them till they snapped off, then left them there with just 1/2 a wrap hold them? It would be easy to do.

If you don't educate yourself on proper proceedures on the job you are having done. ask a lot of questions and constantly supervise, then you are just leaving yourself wide open to be another sucker.

I'm not saying the above is the case it does look like a lousy, amateur job but you can't always base things on the way they appear...

Control joints are often sawed shortly after the pour is made...

"you can't always base things on the way they appear."
Are you pulling our leg here? " you can't always base things on the way they appear." .......So as it appeared to me and videos don't lie, that when he swung the shute around it BLEW the rebar aside like a leaf blower blowing fall leaves. I don't be to be an armchair engineer to realize that ain't right in anyone's book. I've seen enough concrete jobs to know you don't leave rebar flat on the ground.

It all appears quite clear to me and a lot of others that the retired Highway Patrol officer was scammed

Wow, just wow. I thought I had seen some crummy concrete jobs.. But live and learn. I thought this was a pretty good joke demonstration, but that poor guy got taken almost as bad.

Wow. I learned a lot from this. This weekend I'm going to apply my new knowledge and pour a 6'foundation.

You mean 8 X 8?

I seem to recall reading that fiber contrary to common belief, is NOT a replacement for rebar. I forget at the moment, what it's good for? Hairline cracks maybe?

I never realized I was holding my hammers all wrong. Since I never put a hammer in a tool belt, and so don't need all that handle length, I will be cutting all the handles half off, to make them more handy. That guy is a genius!

Well, the man certainly cleared up a lot of long held misconceptions. Who knew you could get it done for $20 and a burrito? I always suspected all that contractor talk about how concrete work was so hard was a bunch of malarkey. That man showed us how easy it all could be. :)

Gee and here all this time I thought concrete work was hard.....
