I was never impressed with Stihl's air filter design, the one I had it needed to have oil on it. The biggest reason I have against Stihl is I can never remember how to spell it's name right, is the H before the L or the L before H, so kunfusing..............

All of my Stills ;-) have dry air filters... I have a lawnmower that needs oil on the filter though..

Same here regarding the air filters on my 044 and 200.

See thats what I'm talking about, you didn't H before the L, what the H L is wrong with you, you need to jump in the pool before its tolate.......

I guess Stihl dont use the oil air filter design anymore, my 044 was 25-30 years old. My son has no since of humor on bashing Stihl, he's now a Stihl man and hates huskys, think he got enough of husky after seeing me trying to start my old 550xp, but just wait til he needs the air pump.........

My 290 used to be an 029 bought in the mid 90's, the muffler let go and melted the oil tank about 6-7 years ago. My boss had a 290 that his brother in law ran straight gas in. He was gonna pitch it, so I took it & put my 029 engine in an almost new 290 case. I'm about to go out and cut up some red oaks with it. It is still my go to saw. But I've seen the carnage by running straight gas, a good reminder to add the oil in the can before going to fill it with gas! If I still have the piston I will take a pic.

Toward the end of his life when he was getting confused my father burned up a couple of 290s in a row that way. My mother tried to explain that he had to mix oil with the gas but he showed her where she was wrong; the saw was clearly labeled that gas goes here and (B&C) oil goes there. For most of his life before then he was the person that people would come to when something was broken down or not running right. Alzheimer's sucks.

Yeah my dad was the guy the entire neighborhood would bring their saws and chains to for repair or sharpening. Every so often I'd use a chain he sharpened and it would cut crooked like a banana. He'd forget to do the other side, so yeah, old-timers as my grandad called it sucks.

Here's the last of the 4 logs, it's too long to fit sideways out the trailhead, so I will chain it up to the log Arch and bring it up that way. The top of this tree will have to wait 'til tomorrow, ran out of gas, and by that, I mean my body ran out of gas in this heat.
