L Series HST Recall

   / L Series HST Recall #82
I've talked to 2 dealers in BC. The dealer I got my snowblower from has done one and said the bolt was not loose. The dealer where I bought my tractor said he is waiting for a gasket kit and then will do one of the tractors they have on their lot, before they do mine. He told me to keep using my tractor until then.

Update: the first two we have done had bolts that were in place but not torqued properly. Hopefully the rest will be the same, or the bolts will be sufficiently tight.

And then there will be those who saved $$$ and bought their tractors from an out of state dealership. I wonder where they will be standing in line. Waiting for their turn to have repairs made.

Dealer picked up my L4760 yesterday and left a L6060 while it is being repaired, inspected. I just hope it is returned fixed and no later issues from lifting cab and tractor split.

Got mine back after being in the shop for around 30 days. All the bolts were not torqued to spec, so they properly adjusted them. After the recall the tractor is much harder to steer than before. Something is way off with the power steering.

Don't accept it until all is as it should be.

That's right. Much easier to fix it now. Power steering is simple mechanically, but a big red flag if not right.
You didn't cause this, and Kubota has volunteered to fix it. I'd recommend that you insist.

Actually, it speaks volumes.
This is my 4th Kubota tractor in 20 years of ownership. BX25, B2650, L3540 and the current L4060.

Received the letter, called dealer, they had no idea of recall (1st example of bad process).
Three days later dealer talked to area service advisor, he had no idea of recall (2nd example)
Five days later, dealer now aware of recall, waiting on parts availability and time required to perform. No idea at this point

So, I have a 4 week old tractor with 7.3 hours on it. I understand the cab has to come off, unit gets split in half for repair and reassembled. To say I'm displeased is an understatement.

I called Kubota customer service to speak with customer service. Talked to the nastiest person, she missed her calling, she would fit right in working at the Division of Motor Vehicles in NJ.

Seriously, I'm at a loss for words here. I know it's not my dealers fault, they are trying to help, but I don't really want a 7 hour old tractor going in for major surgery. I asked them my options, they said I really don't have any. Kubota won't replace the tractor. They will repair.

So disappointed

So the saga continues. It's 98 degrees here in NJ today, so much cutting needs to be done and no machine.
The machine is still apart at Tri-State Rentals in Newton, NJ, the local Kubota dealer.

I'm at a loss for words to even begin to express my disapointment in Kubota. The latest, they're waiting on a gasket. The mahine has been apart since MAY!!!

If there's anyone that has any suggestions or contacts in either Kubota or a product liability lawyer, please forward on to me.

Anyone thinking of buying a new Kubota, please use my experience and the utter lack of responsiveness or concern when you're considering spending 10's of thousands of dollars on a machine.

Unfortunately, laws protecting consumers probably vary from state to state. 7.3 hours on a used and rebuilt tractor? What's it worth? What's your time worth? Have they provided you with a loaner? Did they offer to undo the deal? I have no idea of your situation there - or of their side of the story. And I don't know if their mechanics are professionals or what.

I can tell you this, if it were me, I would have at least talked with an attorney back in May so I would know what my rights were. It sounds like you have no idea. In fact, I'd still do that now...

IMHO, you have been too nice.
