The joint pin came loose right at the gear box on my belly mower (Rc72-30B) while mowing. I was a little slow shutting the PTO off and the drive shaft and sleeve yoke separated. The sleeve yoke now as a small dent at about the 3 inch mark and I can't reinsert the drive shaft as far as I need. Is it possible to repair the sleeve yoke? Could I heat the sleeve yoke at the dent with a torch and then attempt to drive the drive shaft into the yoke to remove the dent, allowing the drive shaft to move freely in the yoke again?

thanks

Most PTO shafts use common tubing. Post a photo and dimensions of the cross section and perhaps someone can ID it.

for the diagram on the right, part 40 won't go into part 50 because of a dent about 3 inches up the yoke...

The snip of the Kubota parts diagram does not help as it does not list specs like the JD parts site. Post a photo and dimensions of the cross section of the shafting (looking down into the hole or shaft showing the splines) and perhaps someone can ID it if it is a common style. Is the yoke fully splined or is there a splined collar on the end?

Is part 40 a solid shaft? If it is, then your plan or heating the outer tube red hot and driving shaft 40 into it may work.

I might try a stud welder on the outer shaft first and try to heat it and pull the dent out. It then again, I have a stud welder. ;)

When I click on the diagram it magnifies for me, perhaps not for you.

Solution found....my neighbor has a press so we pressed the splined shaft into the yoke sleeve and then separated the two pieces, the pressed them together again and the 2nd time used a hammer to lightly hammer around on the yoke sleeve to "warm it up".

Didn't have to heat anything up and the two pieces slide back and forth as normal.

thanks for the replies
