Kubota BX25D
Hi Folks--

I just picked up a new-to-me BX25D, and while it's total overkill for my property, owning one made SO much more sense than renting for an extended period for the projects I have in mind, so here I am. I confess it has me searching landandfarm.com now looking to move some place where I can use this thing to its potential. Here's my demographic spot: 57-year old former Navy helicopter pilot, now regional airline captain; hobbies are tinkering, enjoying good beer and quality music, and the sense of accomplishment one gets after repairing or building something.

I look forward to tapping your brains for help along the way.

Mike

Welcome to T-B-N.

Kubota BX tractors are the lightest tractors in Kubota's line. Most consider a BX adequate for two to three acres of flat ground. More than three acres and most T-B-N contributors will recommend a heavier, more capable model Kubota.

It requires a 50% increase in compact tractor bare tractor weight before there is a clearly discernible increase in tractor capability. That would be a Kubota "L" series tractor.

Done. Location updated. And given that I'm on only a half-acre, the BX should be plenty for me. I do, however, have a couple of properties that are also small lots, but with BX-worthy project lists, so in total it seems justifiable. Again, certainly considering the cost of renting, and the inherent sense of needing to rush through the jobs at hand, buying more tool than was apparently necessary seemed justifiable. Plus, these things hold their value so well that it seems not so expensive in comparison.

And thanks for the welcome :)
