It’s difficult to know what I may be planting and rotating through the pasture area to meet the needs of wildlife conservation practices.

Will the RCR 2660 be best for a variety of food plot and rotational plantings, some of which may be easier or more difficult to mow than Bermuda grass.

I have only used Land Pride attachments in the past, they have done a good job for me. Will likely mow part of 15 acres twice a year. Do you feel a 5’ medium duty rotary mower will perform well in 3’ coastal Bermuda and food plot plantings behind the L3560? I don’t push my equipment hard and don’t mind putting the seat time, beauty of retirement.

YES

LP's RCR2660 is more Rotary Cutter than necessary for any planted crop.

LP rates the RCR2660 at 3" cutting capacity so it is for mowing heavy, thick brush plus incidental grass. Heavy duty mowers are often termed right-of-way mowers. I mow jungle periodically.

I suggest stopping by a Kubota dealer and obtaining a copy of LP's general Product Guide which has 10 pages of LP's range of Rotary Cutters suitable for compact tractors.

Very generally 60" single spindle Rotary Cutters weigh around 450 pounds for light duty, grass only mowers, 650 pounds for medium duty grass and light brush mowers and 1,000 pounds for heavy duty brush mowers.

You should find a medium duty mower with a Category 3 mower drive line ample, such as RCF1860 or RCR2060. Medium duty mowers have more precise adjustments for mowing grass than heavy duty mowers.

You will likely want optional chain guards front and rear as you will want to mow in both forward and reverse in conservation use.

My brother-in-law had a wildlife ag exemption (ranch near Llano, TX) and he got so tired of keeping up with documentation he switched to cattle. You will have a much easier time by giving grazing rights to your neighbor or have somebody bring in sheep or goats. I run blackbuck antelope for my ag exemption. They are really easy to keep, they like a mix of open pasture and treed pasture and hate to jump fences. Or run goats or sheep yourself - that's what 99% of the people around me in the hill country do for ag.

I stopped by my Kubota dealer today for all the print info they had, more options than I imagined, nice to have all the data there and not print sheet after sheet from web sites. I already see some items I did not know existed and might be ideal for my needs. This dealership is large, and very busy. I will likely go to it’s sister- location, just a few miles farther yet smaller and in a more rural community. Have looked over John Deere product lines, and don’t see anything of interest. Wife wants me to buy new and get a little more than I need, lucky me, I am the one that usually goes with a little less and makes do, but this will likely be my last farm equipment purchases, it will all outlast me by many years.

If your new place will be at altitude, keep in mind that a naturally aspirated engine will lose 3% of engine power per 1000' of elevation. A turbo can make up for a good part of that.
Also the 3560 comes with the lowest capacity loader available in the grand L series, which could be an issue depending on what you'll be doing with the loader.

The OP stated Cooke County Texas. The HIGH point there is 1255 feet. Cooke County High Point - Peakbagger.com

TxMN. . . I am in Van Zandt County. I have had my Wildlife Exemption for 2 years now. I have talked with the folks at the County Appraisal District, and they have been very helpful. I find it is quite easy to maintain the Wildlife Ag Exemption. The first year you submit your plan along with things you have already accomplished. Then each year after that you provide a report with pictures and receipts. The info on the TP&W website made it easy enough for this caveman to do it. Don't fret about the Wildlife Ag Exemption.

Thanks Jezreel, I have reached out to the Noble Institute in Ardmore, OK, they do ag consulting for OK residents and TX residents in a few counties in NC TX, our is one of those. One of their wildlife consultants is ready to work with me in developing a plan and will be a resource for related needs. All for free, they have a great reputation in the area, so I can’t imagine it will be any problem with their help. And if I decide to do something with ag instead, they will still consult. The only thing they ask is you follow their recommendations, which is fair enough.

Talk to your county tax appraiser, they are the ones keeping an eye on your exemption. We have two appraisal districts since our ranch is physically in one county and we are in another county's school district. One county would let us run fewer animals than the other county to maintain our exemption.
