Who, then? I would drop my NRA membership in a heartbeat if there was somebody else lobbying successfully for our rights, and sponsoring a replacement for the extensive firearms safety and training which the NRA has developed.

To me, the NRA should be treated like any other charity. That included the Clinton Foundation!!!

If they committed crimes, they should be charged with those crimes.

The New York District Attorney has stated that her goal is to shut down the NRA, not prosecute them for any crimes committed. She is a former Congresswoman, and very much a Democrat Political Activist that puts Party ahead of the law.

She timed this just before the election for political reasons. The NRA historically helps those that support the Second Amendment, which is usually Republicans. By doing this now, the NRA will have to use resources to defend themselves instead of supporting politicians running for office.

Been a member since childhood. I owe all my firearms safety training to them. I recognize they’re political and corrupt to some degree (like all other big organizations), but why doesn’t the esteemed gentle lady from NY just sue the individuals that are corrupt instead of the entire organization? Why do we have to lose all the good of the NRA because of the bad?
I think its pure politics. The NRA supports one party. The gentle lady from NY supports the other.

GOA. I switched a couple years ago. WP is a fat cat on your dues of which you have no voice. I've been done with the NRA for a while now.

I just know this thread is heading for a lock....................:D

Obviously this woman has been told (by the biggest mucky mucks in the anti gun lobby) that taking down the NRA would be the equivalent of finding cures for cancer, Alzheimer's and the common cold...she has visions of grandeur...

methinks a quote from Isoroku Yamamoto is more appropriate for what she will end up getting out of it... "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."

She's going to be sorry...IMO

No doubt the intent of this lawsuit is political.

Also no doubt that Wayne and his buddies have been raiding the till for years.

I am an endowment member but I do believe the organization has lost it's way in recent years.

As a gun owner I believe we need a powerful lobby in Washington. But Wayne and his buddies need to be shown the door.

I agree. I stopped supporting the NRA because of this crap. I will not be renewing my instructor credentials, nor will I be renewing my membership.
If the NRA refuses to mind it's own house, maybe it's time for an outside force to put it out of it's misery.

It's a shame though, the NRA has outstanding training, education, and competition programs that my go down with Capt. Wayne and his cronies. Maybe the training/competition/education
programs can be spun off and maintained.

I am hopeful though - state level organizations are growing and some are effective.
Although in Va, the biggest state level org - VCDL - jeesh. The leader can't seem to grasp that certain media interviews should not be done and can't seem to understand the traps he is led into.

I saw that yesterday when I read the thread title. Still, a good discussion until it gets out of hand.

IMO, the NRA has corruption, but its probably far less corrupt than the very government that is suing them.
