I’m currently shopping for a pickup and that’s good to know but anything that new is out of my price range anyhow.

Haven't bought a new car since my 2006 F150. Pretty darn sure I won't buy a new car ever again. Kinda sad thinking about it.

No new cars in my future either and it doesnt bother me one bit.

No bad, sometimes the most obvious is the first overlooked

If you can determine that your wire feed motor is 24 volt like nearly every other welder out there, you can buy a spool Gun on e-bay for $149.00 ( same as Miller 150 and ESAB/Tweco ) Snip the wires between your feed motor and feed board and run a toggle switch between the feed motor and the spoolgun motor and to an amphenol or some kind of 2 wire plug. You can switch back and forth. if your welder blows up you can use the same setup and the spool gun on most any other welder with 24v drive motor. I could offer the simple drawing if interested. just another unmentioned option.

I am interested. I did exactly what your talking about to get the miller wire feed to work, I just can’t explain it like you did. Mine is 12 volt.

Yep. Customers are buying them and getting mad because we don't support after market parts or pieces or make adapters to fit this junk. They can look a like, but how they operate, with voltage on the motor, and potentiometer are all different. Plus any damage they cause to the circuitry is on you. I wouldn't touch them myself. There is only one factory in China making the original stuff that Miller, Everlast and a few others use. This ain't it. Even if you get it from the same factory expecting it to fit ours, or Millers it is a crap shoot because drive motors are different, and even how they are driven and the voltage they are looking for is different. Some are 12v, some are 24v, and some are even 48 volt operation. Ohms on pots can range from 1 to 25k ohms for control of wire speed. Then you have to talk about connectors and the money you got to spend to adapt this little "gem" to the unit. Then at best you can kludge the parts together and hope for the best.

Had a customer the other day. He called me at least three different times, trying to hide the thing he had done (why lie about it ot try to cover it up if you want cooperation and help?). He called and pretended to be different customers though I recognized the phone number area code and his voice and his manner of speaking. 2 of the 3 times, he hung up on me, when I said we didn't offer support for connecting up a non Everlast spool gun. First he told me his connector was "broken" and wanted to get a new one. Second time he told me it was because he wanted to make it a 25 foot gun? What the???? The guns are already 25ft. Then he told me he wanted to add an extension to the gun, and got mad when we didn't provide a readily made adapter with both male and female parts so he could "fit" it. He hung up on me, muttering like he did the first time when he "broke" his connector. Pretty sure it was him that called of Friday (thursday) that he told me he had bought a gun off ebay and wanted to "adapt it to his gun and wanted to know what he needed and how to do it. I told him I didn't know unless he knew more about his gun. I tried getting info out of him so I could get a better idea. He was avoiding my questions and seemed put out again when I tried to get some gun specifications that he had from him. He couldn't fathom that the guns would be different or that they couldn't be adapted to work.

Before (removed) smarts back..we've tested others. Did anyone notice that this gun does not have a detacheable spool? What you have to do, is unwind wire from another spool onto this spool manually... hopefully get it so it doesn't get crammed all up on the spool. Its a night mare. We've looked at it before, or a version of it, possibly from another factory, and even tried to carry it back in the end of 2008. Its the most aggravation you can get for 76.00. Too far down the retail road? lol
