IMO there is a much more serious tort constantly going on than not wearing a mask in public places...and that is just being in public places if a person has been exposed whether they have symptoms or not and whether they have gone at least 14 days after testing negative after being exposed...
...Most peeps would know if they have been exposed to anyone testing positive even with no symptoms...

Masks are not the answer...keeping infected (symptoms or not) peeps out of the public is the way to stop the spread...

people that have knowingly been exposed and go out in the public should be charged...there should be a law...
You're correct about avoiding spaces and staying in if you have symptoms.

The problem is (1) people are infectious before they show symptoms, and (2) some are asymptomatic.

This is precisely why face coverings are so important. You can't know if someone is spewing the virus or not.

No...the problem is that many peeps that know they have been exposed but don't have symptoms (and don't bother getting tested) still go out in public without isolating themselves after the exposure...

Blue Collar Logic, on Youtube did a thing on this. I personally believe him. Fudged numbers!

There seems to be a lot of discussion about masks and whether you wear them to protect youself or others. I only heard yesterday, that some of the more elaborate and expensive masks that allow you to exhale easily, through a vent, I guess, do not protect others. Hmmm. Interesting!
I've seen many YouTube proclamations of the truth. They are frighteningly ill informed. If you want the truth, go to the scientists doing the research. You will not find a single aerosol scientist that says you don't need to wear a mask. Not. A. One.

I'd be happy to point you to a mountain of peer-reviewed journal articles that explain the science behind the effectiveness of masks.

Yes, that message has evolved as the understanding of how the virus is spread has evolved. That's how science works. It's why we no longer believe the world is flat. I realize that can be very frustrating to feel like the message is continually changing, but it's simply a product of our imperfect understanding of the world, in general.

It's harmful to disregard scientific understanding over those concerns, though.

I don't get that current thinking either. So, maybe I had this in the fall and am a carrier. What good is isolating myself for two weeks gonna do?

No to make light of it. More to make a point. I "PERSONALLY" don't think the world is flat, but also "PERSONALLY" have no way of knowing that it's not. MUCH, and I stress MUCH, that was common belief and accepted as fact, has been overturned. Maybe I'm like Sleepy Joe. What did he say? "We choose Truth Over Facts"

As far as scientists go. That is about the LAST group of people I would believe based mostly on that whole system in which they operate.

Yes, that behavior is inexcusable.

However, asymptomatic spread, and the delay between the time you can spread the virus versus when you show symptoms is still a very significant problem as well, and is why masks are critical.

It does nothing for you. However, it keeps you from spreading it to others, and infecting them. That's how you contain an epidemic. Isolate the infected.

Geeze...! those that have not had the virus and know they have been exposed are the ones that need to isolate themselves...

ANYONE that gets exposed to anyone testing positive or showing symptoms are the ones that need to be isolated...

studies are showing more and more that most new cases come from those who are known...not from strangers out in the public...most people will know exactly when they are exposed...

System in which they (I) operate?
