Choosing just one grease..

I haven't used the green, but I believe the red is also lithium based but has a higher temp rating. It's highly rated as the best grease for trailer bearings and is all I use for all my needs. I have over 17 years on my mower deck spindles and over 250K miles on my vehicle u-joints. I've been using Mystik JT-6 red grease that I got from Tractor supply. They've quit carrying it and now carry Rotella HD. It might not be the best grease for loader arms and such, but if I had to pick one grease, I'd choose the one that works best for the more demanding application.

That's what I am doing......especially since I don't use the FEL much anymore....using Valvoline"Multi-vehicle" red lithium...but no moly.

$8.50 a tube is the preferred price, you can get a membership for like 15$ that lasts 6 months, it will get you the preferred price. That's what I did, got a 35lb pail of GC, a bottle of chainsaw oil and a bottle of Saber 100:1 2 stroke, and I am set for a while :)

PS I am not an Amsoil zealot, but there are a few products they make that although expensive, are still a good value (grease, 2 stroke oil, gear oil to name a few).

I agree, it is well worth the money.

I’m trying to follow along but I’m struggling :)

Which Amsoil grease (exactly) are you guys recommending?

Exactly is right, they offer half dozen varieties so which one, all I need to do is grease the FEL pins and bearings...

This one:

Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease NLGI #2 - AMSOIL

Don't worry about the other ones, that may sound more "targeted" for your application, this is the one you want, especially in a one grease solution.

Only exception is if all I did was lube high speed bearings, then I would consider the Dominator racing grease, slightly better for that. But given the specs I do not feel bad about using the GC above for my mower deck spindle bearings. And I am notoriously picky ;)

I tried a "synthetic" grease one time. I hated the fact that one can not wipe the darn stuff off of anything including ones' hands. That must mean that it is very good at staying put and functional as a grease.

Cheers,
Mike

Well there now I know what Amsoil grease to use, and they are the only ones who sell it, cant even find it on ebay.

Online is usually best for pricing, especially if you are getting a case or 2. Just become a preferred customer for 6 months (15$), it will save you about 25% off the retail price.

If you want to "try" a tube, looks like Ames, Carquest in Rockport, Advance in Waldoboro and NAPA all carry some amsoil products. Call first and confirm if you are driving out of your way, I have seen some "partial" inventories at retail stores.
