In my location, in my town, in my job, I come in close contact (less than 6') with thousands of people each day. Thousands. Not dozens. Not hundreds. Thousands. You can't be fearful of strangers. Any one of them could knife you, shoot you, etc...

I'm not scared of lighting, but I respect it. I'm not scared of driving, but I drive defensively. I'm not scared of strangers, but I consider all of them as potentially infected and deal with that accordingly. And I'd hope that they'd view me the same way.

In my location, in my town, in my job, No one has suffered from the wuhan flu. Zero deaths this entire time.
In my state, only one person perished "with" the flu virus since the first week of June.

How afraid should I be?

Moss With every respect, when will you stop wearing a mask in dealing with all these dangers?

When it's deemed safe to do so. If it never stops, neither will the mask wearing, hand washing, physical distancing, etc....

I wouldn't call it skipped, as last time I checked, service was not compulsory. But yes, I have not served in the military, yet I have the utmost respect for service members.

But that's neither here nor there. The point is, let's follow your logic.

"Only weak people need leaders."

Well, we all know the military needs and relies on leaders.

Therefore, according to your logic, military members are weak.

Obviously, this is not true, or they wouldn't be in the military.

So, your argument that only weak people need leaders is a logical fallacy.

The same logical approach can be applied to your continued diatribe that science is somehow a dependence on ignorance.

The fact that you can't critically think and identify these inconsistencies in your own belief structure speaks much more to your own ignorance than that of anyone else.

I kiss my wife EVERY DAY ! Without worry!

And she went out shopping today! (no vinegar anywhere! That's distressing, it's time to make pickles!)

My wife has been working from home since March. I'm more concerned about me passing it to her than vice versa.

No vinegar! Bummer. Well, at least there's something we can agree on.... pickles!

Have a good evening. I gotta go out tomorrow and try to beat the masses.

Your situation is different from my and many others' situations. Therefore, you should respect other peoples' situations, and realize that some of us have to be cautious, and mask wearing, hand washing, and physical distancing is the best way for us to reduce the possibility of contracting this illness.

Afraid is the wrong word. Cautious is what you're looking for. New Zealand was covid free AND locked down for something like 120 days. Then an outbreak they can't explain, first it was 6, then it was dozens. And they're about as careful as they can get. Now they're locked down again. When you have it under control it's not the time to open the gates because others aren't under control and you don't know who's coming from where and who's going to where.

This is where I live.
Michiana - Wikipedia
I live right in the middle of it. About 850-900,000 people within 30 minutes of me in any direction.
In my county alone, there was 266,000 people 10 years ago.

That's a lot of people. Fortunately with my job and lifestyle I can leave the house about once a month for groceries. Wife is bored to tears. Kids are on the internet. And I'm working in the garage.

During our monthly shopping excursions, wife and i put on n95's and gloves and avoid people that have no spacial awareness, or just don't care.

We got locked down the 2nd week of february, quarantined because of one of my kids got exposed in school. Nothing ever came of it but we basically haven't left the house since. I'd been studying it for work since mid january.

I went for a 20 mile bicycle ride late this after noon, (after pruning fruit trees to let in the sun)

Two cars passed me by. one car came on the road ahead.

Should I have been wearing a mask? Heck! I wasn't wearing a helmet or eye protection! (I should have had the latter, there were bugs!)

Respect goes two ways!
