I look at it this way. I will not live my life in fear... of losing my life. Every day we choose to walk out into the world is a crap shoot. I've spent 40 years in construction; virtually everything we do, every day, can kill you. Go mow with your tractor... that's as dangerous as it gets. I'm not advocating being stupid, lazy, or destructive; I'm saying live life to enjoy, not saddled with fear curled up in the corner. Wear a mask out of respect for your neighbor, stay away from stupid people, and get on with it already....

Exactly. More die in auto accidents and I don't see automobiles being quarantined.

They do suggest you wear a mask.....er.....seat belt.

Let's forget all the evil intentions for a moment? What is to become of mankind? Ever more Walmarts, Dollar Stores, People being invcreasingly dumbed down, staring into their phones. What's the prupose of such a life, and where would that head?

There's a documentary on it.

Idiocracy

Actually, Sweden had under 100 automobile deaths during this same time period. 5800 vs 100

People in Sweden use public transportation rather than private vehicles so not a good comparison. In fact most of the EU uses public transportation, another failing in this country.

Compact countries can run public transport efficiently when there are no great distances to cover by very few people, same as advocates of riding a bike to work, I would if it wasn't 100km away.

People in the North East for the most part have no idea as to distances in the West. When we lived in New England and the neighbors found out we had lived in California and so did my folks, they assumed we visited with them every week end. Except they lived 500 miles away. That's like driving from New York to Columbus, Ohio each weekend. No, we didn't make that trip that often.

There's a section of I-80 where the gas stations are 80 miles apart across the salt flats.

Public transit will only work in areas with a high density of population and "short" distances.

36,560 in 2018 on u.s. roads was last annual count I could find.
Motor vehicle fatality rate in U.S. by year - Wikipedia

174,000+ u.s. covid deaths since March 2. That's less than 6 months.

So on track for 350,000ish u.s. covid deaths in 12 months VS 36,560 = about 10 times more people will die in the U.S. this year from COVID compared to the same time period for U.S. car fatalities.
