Choosing just one grease..

I do all the other tractor lube points at the regular service intervals. What's your take on the #219 Mangler? I think actually using a grease gun occasionally would be a step in the right direction for some folks, I've walked away from more than one "good deal" on used equipment because all the joints and pivot points were wallowed out from zero lubrication.

I think you got the right. Occasionally greasing something with any ol grease, is a plus.

So what do you all think of the Valvoline VV615 Multi-Vehicle hi temp red grease? ....I don't drive (pickup) much anymore or work my tractors all that much....mostly just mowing now. I guess the answer would be ..... it doesn't make all that much difference.....just grease away.:)
Cheers,
Mike

500F dropping point is ok, Timken of 60 is ok. Spec sheet is weak. 3/5. Keep up with regular greasing, no slacking ;)

I use Lucas Red N' Tacky. It goes better with my Kubota than the Lucas green. Though the green is probably a great choice for John Deere equipment. :)

I've been using Schaeffer's #219 synthetic for my tractor, and Mystik JT-6 high temp for my mower/general purpose grease. I got two full cases of the JT-6 for ~$1.00/tube at a going out of business sale a couple years back. Be a while before I get through all of that. If I'm packing new wheel bearings or CV joints on something, I use the Redline CV-2 synthetic. Never heard of the Paragon 3000, but the spec sheet is pretty good on it. I might give it a go someday when I run out of the #219. I grease the FEL and grapple joints every time I fuel the tractor because it's easy for me to remember that way. (And I'm using the FEL 95% of my tractor time.) I do all the other tractor lube points at the regular service intervals. What's your take on the #219 Mangler? Shaeffer 219 is quite good. Good dropping point, excellent weld load. Water washout is average though, so make sure you check your pins in wet environments. Red line CV-2 is an excellent high speed bearing grease. JT-6 red high temp is above average as a one size fits all grease. 1$ a tube was a steal.

Lucas red and tacky is just ok. Very good drop point ( part of its "tacky"claim), but just average weld load and water washout. Oil separation is terrible at 6%, avoid if you store grease in a standard plunger gun for long periods. Leaky mess, similar to Mobil1 red. 2.5/5.

For the same price, I would pick Mystik JT-6 high temp red. Better at everything, except a very slight decrease in drop point(but still very good). Still red ☺

PS Nice YouTube channel!

Water washout isn't much of a factor for me, my tractor is an open station, and I hate getting rained on! The water washout spec on the P3000 is impressive though. Definitely worthy of consideration for anyone working in the wet.

I agree it isn't cheap, but I didn't give quite that much for it. ~$10 if I recall. Still expensive for grease, but also a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the price of my machine. If I had a fleet of machines, I'd definitely need a cheaper alternative. As I only own one tractor, one tube of high quality synthetic grease will last me over a year. Works out to less than a dollar a month for me. I think I can swing it. Good luck with your socks though!

You will likely see a nice improvement from the Mystik green with this Traveller grease. I attached a link to the tech data sheet(yes it's the same product).https://kynetxproducts.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/KYNETX-TDS_MD-LXM27.pdf

If it still on sale for 2.50, it's a good deal(i.e just one sock). Not a bearing grease I would recommend, so not a "just one grease" candidate, but fine for everything else (pins, u-joints, driveshafts etc.) Just watch the stains, it's on a whole new level with moly.

PS Water washout is not just about operating in water (or hurricanes), it can also help gauge the grease's ability to "stick" and stay in place. If a steady stream of hot water can't displace it, it's probably going to hold on just fine in dry usage.
