My favorite shots from a few quick trips to local parks this weekend and last.

Here there are springs. At the start of one are two huge maple trees. One has this funny growth at the base (a gall?).
There are a few dead trees I left since owls nest in them. This sasafras tree had a honeysuckle wrapped around it I removed. Probably would make a good walking cane.View attachment 66647920200815_154047.jpg20200815_154023.jpg20200815_154149.jpg20200815_154637.jpg

Here's some you guys might like. These two reside on a lake in the UP of MI we camp at and one morning they swam past within 40ft. They didn't have any cygnet's this year.

This is a really enjoyable thread. Fantastic pics of Mother Nature & her cohorts.

Snymat 68 - post #833. At the very bottom - the white bird on the limb. What kind of bird is that?

In the spring I get large flocks of swans that lay over. They are Trumpeter swans. They might stay as long as three weeks. They have never nested here - just passing thru. They will only land on the big lake. My little lake is rimmed with tall basaltic lava cliffs and probably is too confining for them.

Anyhow - during their stay. Honking, squawking, flapping, generally noisy behavior - all night long. Even though they are some 200 yards distance from my house - it can keep me up all night. I have to shut the bedroom window to reduce the sound of their nighttime antics.
