Great! 1" hole should be large enough for a slip hook, I would think?

One inch would definitely accommodate a shackle pin or a trailer hitch ball.

Thanks again. I forgot how handy a trailer ball could be.

I bought heavy duty 4' forks and I wish they would have come with holes in the ends for chain hooks. Not sure how hard they will be to drill. I would imagine they are hardened steel.

They are really easy to drill.

Drilling is the only way to go. A torched hole always looks bad.

I needed a hole in a fork tip, used a hole saw in the drill press. Easy cutting and a nice clean hole.

Wow! You must have a lot better hole saws than I do. Mine barely cut wood.

Try an annular cutter in a drill press at a proper speed and some good quality cutting oil like Tap Magic. Should be a piece of cake.

I just looked, it's a Rigid 1", nothing special. I'd have taken a pic except my tablet won't hold a charge anymore and is dead and my camera don't like any of the AA batteries in the house. Ain't tech wonderful.

That was certainly enlightening. Never heard of annular cutters before and now I am intrigued.

I built a box that I can safely stand in and cut branches while somebody drives the loader tractor. We push brush and logs all the time. Torched a hole in each fork so we can pull/push equipment around with them.
