Not necessarily so...
Some studies show that mask wearers are more prone to touching their faces...if a mask is collecting/stopping virus infected droplets...what is to keep those virus microbes from being transferred to the hands and then to the eyes, nose or mouth ??

Speculation is that if C-19 virus microbes are close enough to be stopped by a mask they are in the same proximity to the eyes, hands etc...

The wet mask is from their own breath. They can't give the virus to themselves if they already have it. The mask is to help lessen your chances of spreading it.

Take the example Notre Dame is having right now. They required all students to take covid tests before arriving on campus. 33 out of 12,000 came back positive. Something like 0.03%. Anyone that tested negative was allowed back on campus. A week later 300 students had positive test results. Most of them traced back to 1 off-campus party. Someone spread it.

Or....

Coronavirus NFL tests from weekend deemed false positives

Now that we are down to stating opinions.

I doubt very much that wearing a cloth mask will help prevent the wearer from covid-19
I do believe that wearing a cloth mask may help a LITTLE in preventing spreading of Covid thru large droplets.
But I still think many droplets are expelled both thru and around the cloth mask..
I believe the main benefit of wearing a cloth mask is mostly to make people feel better. Symbolism over substance. BUT, I don't really see any harm in wearing one, and it MAY do some good of keeping spit out of the air or onto other people, so we will wear our mask's for the time being anyway.

I also think equating all masks including N95 with something home made and poorly fitted is just silly. Some are going to do a much better job than others. and MAY have a much greater benefit.

SO, there you have it. MY opinion. And that is all it is.

I'm always open to more information. So, thought I'd share this...

Well, that's that then.

Humans just need to be vaccume packed (in the good heavy plastic, not that cheap junk) and sent into outer space.

That has been the general thought from the onset...but some argue that masks can block droplets in either direction (as in the case of N95 type masks)...

It's not a hard argument to prove. I'm sure they could pick up droplets on the outside from others. However, it still doesn't negate the need for everyone to wear a mask when around others. It's the proverbial lesser of two evils, if one's inclined to weigh the pros and cons.

Doing the "mirror test" with even multi layers of cloth prove otherwise...unless there is difference between the moisture expelled when talking or breathing is different between a mirror and a plate of liquid nitrogen ??

Put the mirror at varying distances from your mouth with and without a mask and record the results. See what you get.

Why are we even arguing this anymore? It's pretty clear that if you slow the airflow out of your face, you'll slow the water vapor that's in that airflow. It won't travel as far away from your face vs no mask, and therefore, it'll lessen the likelihood that it will spread to others in your presence.
