Doesn't matter.

You answer the call ONE time, and you are immediately transferred from a large pool telephone list, to a smaller "hot" telephone list, because now they know someone actively HAS that phone number.

Then they sell that "hot" list around to other scammers and you never get any peace.

If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer it.

I haven't set up my voicemail in years. No point. With today's "smart" phones, voicemail is going the way of the telegraph.

Funny thing, in the last few months I haven't been getting those "Spoofed" calls which are bounced off another number.

The only reason we even have a landline is because the co-op requires one to use any of their services. We requested a new number that was dormant for at least 10 years. We have never given out this number and it is unlisted. It never rings. The Wife is the only person with my cell # also. I let her do everything from her phone. If you can't tell...I hate phones especially ringing phones.

As soon as you answer the phone your number gets flagged as a live line and sold as a hot lead to other scumbag scammers. Ive switched to google voice for voicemail and let the scammer robots talk to the google robots.

Exactly what I do. Both the mobile and the landline (needed for ADSL connection) have messaging.
