Before we got our new "long dormant" land line number, we had blocked over 90 political or scam calls. We were getting the spoofed "IRS" and "Social Security" calls almost daily. Now the phone is quite.

But is it quiet?

After a couple months of this, we called the phone company and got the longest-dormant number they had in our exchange.

So now you only get calls asking for Marshal Earp?

One good thing about the COVID shutdown is that the phone and email scammers and spammers suddenly dried up for a couple of months. I think things are turning around now as the calls and spam emails are resuming.

No, why complicate the problem by using websites? I've developed a strategy to deal with ALL scammers. I use a whitelist to control when the phone rings. Numbers not on the whitelist (aka scammers) go to voicemail and the phone never rings.

A few their number would be on caller id (usually a social security scam or "Apple Support"). They want you to call them. So when a scammer would call home # I would call another scammer on cell. Put phones together and you'd have two Indians trying to scam each other!
Now we've been black listed, apparently we're on their do not call list.

Apple came up with a solution, on the IPhone There is a setting, if the name and number isn稚 in your list of contacts, it won稚 even ring your phone, it goes straight to voicemail, and shows as a missed call. I always assume that if it痴 important enough they will leave a voicemail. I always listen to any voicemail that is left. I had to call my Drs. Office back a couple of times because they don稚 always call from their 杜ain number so they go to voicemail.

BEST FEATURE EVER. I have had to remove that feature as I am refinancing my house...in the past two weeks, I have gotten caller id痴 that say: IRAN and SERIA...I LITERALLY LAUGH OUT LOUD.
