Rimguard is common to fill them with, it’s heavier than water and not corrosive. Windshield washer fluid is another common one. It’s been a thing for quite a while.

And, that makes 1756 things I have learned today........appreciate it......if you punture a tire filled with beet juice that has to make one **** of a mess lol.....

Yup! but it is non-toxic and won't kill critters the way other tire fillers could.

I have been using small tractors for 12 years and have yet to get a hole in a back tire, but yes it would make heck of a mess. On my John Deere 2025r, about the size of the Kubota you are looking at, there is roughly 200 pounds of Rimguard in one tire.

You shouldn't have said that about no holes in your rear tires. I kept a tire repair in my old unit (crappy old tires though).... id sometimes have 3 plugs in one hole..oh my.

I sure would not want to deal with all the liquid when I got a puncture. I have had punctures in rear tires, one was more of an L shape cut. Rear tire/wheel assembly is heavy enough to handle filled with just air. I took it to a tire shop that was able to patch it from the inside then I went back to my field to put it back on.
Liquid filled tires ride a bit rougher as only the remaining air portion is able to compress.
The extra weight on the rear is always there whether you want it or not. And there are times with compact tractors you might not. Like moving light material around on your lawn, or when you already have a heavy implement hanging off the back. Especially working up hill running something like a rear mower or RC which is requiring power.

Good input, interesting take. One thing is clear with tractors, one size does not fit all with regards to approaching anything......everyone's application and situation is different.

For me where I would want the weight in the rear is for snow and for loader work BUT.....in the winter I plan on having a loaded spreader on the back for sand or a back blade.....that being said I know I will be dealing with soft ground as well as dealing with a leach field/septic system drive over in the back yard so.....being able to NOT be as heavy has an advantage as well.

Things to think about.

You are correct, when doing some things weight is an enemy. One advantage of loaded tires is the weight is below the axle, that extra weight is not stressing things like a weight box would. There is some physics at work so you kind of have to visual that. It also adds to stability.

Totally get it. Very good points. For me, this will come down to pros cons and if the weight is a benefit to me only 10% of the time where it is a detractor 90% of the time then I will seek a slightly different route to either avoid the situations where I need the extra weight or figure out a different, though not as perfect solution (ie. hang a heavy implement off the back etc.)

I really do appreciate the feedback from you guys.......it has helped me really narrow down what I want and has me relatively confident in that choice.

I live in a very flat area of Texas, and so I only need weight only to counter FEL loads up front. Mostly that means just picking up a box blade (450lb) or rotary cutter (1050lb) as needed on my 3pt.

But if your constantly dealing with terrain and slopes, fill those rear tires for long term safety reasons. On the B2601, it may only be 60lbs per tire (120lb total), but its weight strategically placed at the bottom of your tractor. And you still may need the box blade on the rear as a temporary counter weight to heavy front end loads on the bucket, forks or grapple if you have one.

Nice thing about the B2601, it's a low profile and safe compact tractor already, and filling those tires just makes it extremely safe.

Not sure of the tire size of a B2601 but I bet it is close to my JD 2025r, and adding rim guard to mine is around 200 lbs per tire.
